In those circuits (except for the 4739), the TL-072 (which is a J-fet input) can be substituted, but you will also want to install a socket at the same time so that if you ever have to service the board at a future date the pcb will not have to be compromised a second time. Also, cut the IC out and remove the pins individually, then clean up the pads to prevent de-lams. I don't expect there to be a huge performance increase, but some is likely as the 072 is a superior IC. I was involved with Kelsey servicing product on the west coast in the Dallas Music Industries days. |
