10 Cane or Ron Zaccapa 23 Annos FTW

both are made from the first virgin pressing of the sugar cane .. all other rum is made from the waste that remains after all the sugar is extracted (i.e. Molasses)

a little less expensive but a fine sipping rum is Pyrat by the makers of Patron tequilas btw

if you want something it different, look for stroh

http://www.stroh.co.uk/stroh/stroh_original.htm

austrian rum that tastes a little like butterscotch, great for mixing

the 160 proof is surprisingly smooth & makes a lovely pre-jail shooter

Five bottles of Port Royal = $50.00 (approx)

Quantity is always OK in my book!

If you ever see this buy it-Roncoco Coco-Rum. It's prolly about $20.00. Makes all other Cocu-Rums taste like suntan lotion. Sweet and tasty.

My other favorite rum is Gosling's Black Rum, which I use mostly to make a drink called a Dark 'N Stormy, which is ginger beer, black rum, and a lime twist.
