Wow. What a ridiculously nice guitar. It is definitely one of the sexiest strats I've ever seen.

I'm sure Derek and the boys would be proud.

I like it, but you'd need to be confident to play it out.

They have some good looking guitars for sure.

I inquired about one of BC's guitars on ebay (a snakeskin or flame LP) and the guy who responded was quite rude. I asked if it was a 2nd or blem (the back of the headstock was sanded down to the point where you could barely see the S/N) and he replied something to the effect "if you are looking for absolute perfection - don't bid".

As a general rule I don't care for that level of custom paint jobs on guitars but that one looks fabulous.

Me too. I've heard a couple different stories about the name- the first (and most obvious) is that "Derek" is the combination of "Duane" and "Eric." The second is that it was an accident. An announcer was supposed to say "Eric and the Dynamos" but accidently said "Derek and the Dominoes" (which Eric apparently liked better). The second sounds like a better account, especially considering Duane wasn't even considered for recording until well after the "Derek and the Dominoes" album was started. Anyone heard anything else?

As far as I understand it none of those are correct. I believe the name was chosen because EC just wanted to be part of a band, rather than a big frontman star. Something along those lines anyway. Needless to say it didn't last, and consequently neither did D&D.

This is my understanding anyway, I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to correct me.
