I've had some experience with Jersey Jack's posts, and he is the "anti-troll", a very helpful poster. There IS a "blue note" relative to the F chord in the chorus, but it shouldn't throw you if you can nail the melody Jagger is singing.

Troll--moi?!? Nah, I am simply uncertain of your intentions, given your, ahem, spectacular arrival in this forum.
The root note will normally help you determine what notes might be in the passage, but as the case of Wild Horses demonstrates, this is not always the case. The exact notes to songs are found, of course, in sheet music, which is not normally available on the web because of copyright. If you go to the store and buy sheet music or fake books you'll have all the melody notes you need. You know, I'm still not convinced that you're not a troll. You repeatedly ask questions that are easily answerable through common sense--either you are very naive (and your forum name iago insists otherwise) or you get a kick out of making people believe that you're very naive. If your questions are legitimate, I apologize for suggesting otherwise--but really, man, some common sense...!

![]() To me common sense would indicate a singer would sing the root notes of chords. Perhaps I'm an idiot. And has it occurred to you that my intro was a comic noob defense mechanism? You shouldn't need to be Freud to figure that out. ![]() |

Guess what I just did, kids? I went to my local music shop and bought a Stones 20 greatest hits tab book.
But I bought it for the vocal notes. And they are A and B notes in the chorus of Wild Horses according to the book. I'm well on my way to being a semi-tolerable singer! |

Seriously, I'm happy that you've now looked at a score, as this will provide you with all the notes you'll ever need. You're now on your way.... But did you really think that singers always sing the root note of chords? That's exactly what I mean...you're puttin' us on, right?

That's just how much of an idiot I really am. I also now need to unlearn a bad habit I've acquired--subconsciously trying to sing the root note over any chord I'm playing. ![]() Last edited by iago : 11-06-2009 at 08:22 PM. |

Sorry, I'm still stuck on how one could think one has to sing the root of a chord.
