Talking Building my very own Corner Trap - A Photo Essay!

Hi guys,

We're probably all familair with DBYBOTH's post + pics of building his own corner + bass traps:http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/vi...ighlight=essay

Inspired by his pics I got that little Tim The Toolman Taylor we all have in us out and started working. Check out the pics.

I used a double layer of a substance we call 'steenwol' that's like fiberglass. Here are my materials:

1) Steenwol - basically fiberglass. 12 plates of 100 cm L 50 cm W 3 H

2) Wood - custom cut by me and my girl in the local 'Gamma' bka 'Home Depot' to frame around the fiberglass and as back-support

3) My mom's old curtains, the same ones I used to hang behind my monitor's

4) Hammer, drill, nails etc.

The pictures speak their story:

1. The wood framed around the fiberglass + 1 piece to strengthen the middle part

2. Smaller pieces added to strengthen the back structure. This is differnt dan what DBY did and was my girl's idea. It would 'cut the cutting down' - she was right. We couldn't get the store to custom cut the wood, so we did it like this.

3. The front of the corner trap

4. I rented a stapling-machine, that malfunctioned on me. So I had to return back to the roots: hamer + nails. I cut my mom's 'old' curtains and started what would turn out to be quite some work...

5. I used little 2cm nails and pulled the curtain to get it as tight as possible. To make the backstructure more powerful/sturdy I also used the nails. By hammering the little nails halfway into the wood where the fiberglass and inside of the wood met and also by hammering the little nails a bit into the fiberglass (get this - if not I'll take a close up picture and post that)

6. THERE IT IS!!! My very own corner trap. Ain't it pretty!? -Gotta thank my cool *ss girl for helping me out. Thanx baby. OK back to business :P Next up: the other corner trap.. bass traps.. and I gotta create corner traps for the ceiling/backwall part...

Cool! How does it work? Do you notice better bass response?

Also, do the curtains reflect high frequencies? (They seemed kind of "waxy")
