That's an El Rey. I hate you.
Maple binding. Drool. Feels like playing an SG doesn't it? EG |

A few quick thoughts:
-Without a doubt the most beautiful guitar I've ever owned -Sold as new, and clearly used (either as a demo, shop model, or return), but it's in good shape -Thought the one thing I wouldn't like was the inlays, but they're cool and very well done -I wish they'd use a 1-piece neck, especially when you look at the flame on the bass-side piece, but still very pretty -A solid player with low action -GREAT TONE, sounds really nice -Haven't put it on a strap yet, but it would probably set a "neck heavy" record...it's OK though, I'll just use it as a lap guitar -Not many faults with the finish or workmanship - a couple wonky fret ends, but generally very well put together -Love the flame and the finish - the flame is understated, which I wanted (shows up more in the pics than in person) -all in all, I'm totally in love with this guitar |

![]() I almost posted an EG warning... Yep, it really does. It's got a unique feel to it, but it's very comfortable. I haven't tried it standing up, and I may just not do that ever. I don't think it would go well. |

The all acoustic archtop El Rey is balanced better but a good strap (or lap) takes care of that problem. Doesn't bother me.

I was pretty nervous about it, since I wasn't able to play it first, but everything seems in order. You can tell by the fret board that it's been played quite a bit, so that's a little irritating, but I got $500 off so I'll just shut the fuck up and count myself fortunate that it got here at all. |

Eventually though, I'm going to take it to my new guitar guy and get his opinion on whether I should swap in some P-90's. It sounds great now, so I may leave well enough alone, but I've got a set of gold HB-sized P-90's (even the same brand, Armstrong) that I had in mind for it when I ordered it. I really like the sound of P-90's in a semi. |

Yeah the cheapest I've seen that one new is $1500+ so you got a good discount for sure.
It was $1350 for the all acoustic version new. Some top $2000. EG |
