Yesterday, my buddy Tommy dropped off his .270 and asked if I could do something about the scope coming loose all the time, making it hard to hit anything accurately...turns out that the screw-holes were stripped. After retapping them, I'd ordinarily go sight it in, but I had to head out to last night's gig, so I promised him that I'd do it first thing this morning, so that he could get an early start on his hunting today...

I got up to feed the stock then got right to the sighting in process, and got it pretty close, then took it outside to fine tune it.

As I was walking out to my target set-up, I noticed that my goats were kinda agitated, so I checked out what was disturbing them...it was this fellow, intently laying down a scrape...he probably should've been paying better attention, instead.



12 points and a lot of venison!

When Tommy got here a short while ago, I showed him the buck and assured him that his rifle was reasonably well sighted-in.

Every year, hunters are gored to death by bucks in rut...they're very unpredictable.

I tease Tommy about it looking like something a sniper would do his dirty work with...when he bought it, initially, it had a really nice walnut stock, but he had it "hot-rodded" extensively until it now looks like something issued by a S.W.A.T. team!

That is the .270 I was repairing for Tommy laying on the buck...doubt there's much need for putting such a scope on a shot-gun.

I see your point. Nice rifle. In the "lower half" as we call the bottm of Michigan where I live you have to use a shotgun for deer. Been out a number of times myself, but never brought one home. Agree they taste good.

Ordinarily, I'm strictly a traditional bowhunter (my bows don't have "training wheels" ), but there he was, and as Thankgiving is just a few days away, and some folks we're friendly with are going through some tough financial times, so likely would be looking forward to bologna sandwiches, now they'll be eating venison medallions in mushroom sauce, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, greenbean casserole and both a pumkin and an apple pie, which will "mysteriously" be found on their doorstep Thursday morning, right after an equally mysterious text message on their cell phone tells them to look outside.

Looking at the pic, I'm guessing the bore made you think it's a shotgun...actually, the barrel was modified so that extensions can be added, via threaded inserts, to add 6", 9" and 14" to the barrel's length...

I'm surprised it doesn't blow up when it's shot, but it has worked perfectly for over 4 years...
