Can you spot BTBAM kiddies? Amongst these clones that Victory records have signed? We could call it clone core? Smug bastard core?

Or call it what it is. Modern mainstream American metal. Packaged neatly for the masses.

This album took me a few listens to finally get into. It didn't blow me away like colors did the first listen through, but it's slowly becoming my favorite.
It's so so good.

And as for the drama and hate in this thread, stop. BTBAM is doing exactly what they want as musicians. Name one band they're ripping off.
Yep. None.

It's alright...I've given it a few listens so far. I really dig Alaska, I just picked it up last spring. Colors didn't do too much for me, but I definitely like this one better.

They're playing here in South Bend this weekend with Veil of Maya and a few other bands, $15 at a venue that's about the size of a high school gym/auditorium, should be a killer show...

The line is fine.

Take a tech core band like Braindrill. I would take them over BTMAM any day because at least it is an honest attack. Braindrill are not checking the market for what is hot right now. They are just hitting it as hard and as fast as they can.

BTBAM are a very clever/clinical band and for that, they have to be applauded. (By polite similarly dressed fullsail students)

Give me brain drill. Big shambling dumb animals with guitars than the clever pristine polished smug wankery of BTBAM anyday.

Reading comprehension ftl. He said he's not that into the old BTBAM.

You don't like them. That's fine. We get it.

Everytime they play here, it sells out quickly.

I seen BTBAM, Cephalic Carnage,Into the Moat, and The Black Dahlia Murder a couple of years ago. That was an EPIC show.

"Techincal Death metal" - like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Vital Remains, and a slew of other bands.

So you missed my point. Braindrill are going a route that isn't fashionable or clever. It is just HONEST because they love it.

http://www.myspace.com/braindrill

And they are very fkn good at it and expanded the speed aspect.

The guitarist of brandrill can barely write, but he is single minded in his attack on guitar. Which is fkn metal.

You missed my point. You're saying that BTBAM aren't doing anything new. My point is that you can't really make a point and bring up a band like Brain Drill as your example. They sound like every other death metal band that's come before them. They're going for that same market that Vital Remains, Withered Earth, etc are chasing.

haha, seriously?

Scene is why I am ragging on them. Market scene studio core. They have put out an album aimed at he current trends that are selling.

I PURPOSLEY mentioned braindrill because they borrow, but are still metal because it is not conceited music. It is the whole point I mentioned them!

Check out this thread:

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/....php?t=2459767

I fkn LOVE Holy Grail. Who I said rip of Diamond Head etc. But they are not jumping on the studio core wagon and it is honest love/exuberance of music that makes them metal.

They are not terrified of not sounding like a wall of polished perfection.

BTBAM are modern scene metalcore.

I can't understand why people are giving them so much praise. Is this the first time you guys have heard sweeps or modern production or something?

I forgot... You have access to market research for which albums sell. After all, Opeth totally sold out with their new album since they didn't remake "My Arms, Your Hearse" every time.

No, you mentioned them as being a "totally honest" band. How is ripping off old Cannibal Corpse and Vile "honest"?

No, it's not. There are other bands doing sweeps and jazz mixed with metal. Does that mean The Mass is the same band as BTBAM? Does that mean they're the same band as Intronaut? No.

Like I said dude. We get it. You don't like BTBAM. You can take your thrash soapbox home now.

There are no classics, no stand out tunes. Just them proving how fkn clever they are at judging the market.

Just another clone off the victory records faux core conveyor belt.

Sorry mang, I hate the whole movement, not just this band in particular.
And still, it's better than anything you've written and posted on this forum. How many times are you going to post *I count to 5* with those horrendous vocals and lack of any technical or creative writing? Was it supposed to be a joke song? If so, well played.

I'm not really trying to say you're untalented or anything like that, but I'm just proving everything is subjective. You don't like them for whatever reasons, and I don't like the same old tired thrash that's been around since the 80s that employs no new creative elements or technicality. BTBAM are far from "studiocore" They are amazing musicians live, and pull it off note for note. The funny thing is, I don't even like them THAT much.

This is nothing special to me. In fact, I find it boring music. But it amuses me to see how people get all upset when somebody says something bad about this band.

I don't really care if you like them or not. If you're not into them, that's your thing. You're probably into some music that I'm not a fan of. But... you don't have to post every other post saying how bad and unoriginal a band is and how they're chasing what's popular... I've never heard anything like BTBAM on the radio, or at the gym, or anywhere else where there's a "popular metal" channel playing...

Excuse me, I think you confuse me with someone else. Better get your facts straight. Anyway, I think the that band Leprous is more interesting, which may be appealing to you too.
