I had a version 4, and wasn't sure about it, so I let it go.....what makes a version 3 more desirable?

version 4 has less bass response than version 3 but more dynamic volume control. gearmandude has a GREAT 4 version ocd shootout on youtube.

check it out and listen for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB-zD...om=PL&index=40

1. My amp just couldn't keep up with the other guys I was playing with unless I really boosted the volume, hence the Timmy being post SD and Ernie. I would kick in the Timmy for a volume boost to help me cut through the mix.

2. When I was wiring it, I was mainly just thinking about the buffer placement and trying to get it in the chain as early as possible without putting it before the Fuzz. But as Lou-Dog pointed out, the SD uses germanium trannys so I FAIL.

Now that I have a couple amps that have more volume and clean headroom than I could ever need, it's time to start rethinking my chain. Thanks for pointing me in a direction
The Timmy is a great booster, but it seems to me that if you had your Cleanness at the end of your dirt chain (or maybe at the end of your chain altogether) you'd be able to boost your level & shape your tone as you see fit.

Here's what I know:

I've had incredible success for the past year or so by giving the Ernie a swift kick w/ the Timmy. I swear -- those two pedals were made for eachother. By putting the Timmy in front, the Ernie gets a little more articulate for leads and a bit hairier/edgier in general... which is great for thick non-sludgey rhythm work.

Ernie:
Sustain - 10/11:00
Vol - 12-ish... maybe 1:00
Tone - 10:00

Timmy
Vol - 12/1:00
Gain - 10:00
Treb - 12-2:00 (depending on your amp)
Bass - 1:00-2:00 (depending on your amp)

Then, if you precede the Timmy set that way (for some light gain) w/ the Screw Driver, you can get any number of cool stacked tones... from thick and fat stonerrock goodness to thin and fizzy. Seriously, any number of cool things there.

Then, yeah... Cleanness at the end for boost/shaping.

Money.

I think that just means he tried to log in, not that he's actually using the account.

Well, keep going back and forth if I'm going to run the m9/pitchfactor or if I want both band and solo stuff on one board.

I wanted to develop a board that would work, and this is it. If I decided to gig, it may be the pitchfactor/m9 on my smaller board, or it may be this...not sure yet.
