One of my Folyd studs is loose/crooked..easy fix?

I noticed that on my EBMM Silouhette that one of the studs that hold the Floyd on is tilted forward. I've been noticing that the guitar does not sustain well and on whammy bends they sound rather dead. Thats when I noticed the stud leaning forward. I took it apart and the stud is loose and moves back and forth. I cant believe the guitar stays in tune as well as it does

Is this a simple fix to where it just needs to be drilled and sleeve? Think it has to do with it being 'dead' sounding when using the whammy?

I think the correct way to fix it is to route out a plug hole, dowel it, and screw a new stud into the dowel. Not sure if you can find a bigger sleeve or not, but that would be an easier way to go. I'm not good with fixing things, so these both sound like major surgery to me.

I know essentially nothing about Floyds, but I would get some opinions on the possibility of just epoxying the stud back in before I looked at drilling out and doweling. If the epoxy fix didn't work out I wouldn't think you'd be any worse off then you are now. If it will work that's about as quick and easy as you can get. You would need to be sure the alignment and height were right before you glued.

I does not sound good to me, Pics?

I can't imagine how a floyd post would get bent.

It is not uncommon for Floyd posts to get loose. There's not a whole lot of wood between the post and the cavity, and there's a good bit of stress on the posts.

In fact, in the beginning, Floyds only came with posts that were screwed directly into the wood. After enough of them tore out of their hole, Floyd released the more common version that has a machine screw that goes into a metal bushing.

I don't know which kind the Silhouette uses though.

A luthier can help with this - a similar thing happened to one of my instruments.

It would be hard to believe that the silhouette does not come with a sleeved post. And in that case, how the heck did it get bent? I know there is a lot of tension there, 50% of it anyway, but still. .. did not realize that posts went bad like this on modern guitars.

If this is the case the only option I see is drilling, doweling, and re-drilling to set it right.
