I found a pretty interesting plug-in in the Waves Platinum bundle. It's called PAS analyzer. It measures the peaks on the frequency curve so I know exactly what the frequency curve looks like, at least when it comes to the peaks. It would be nice to get the average frequency curve also, maybe it can do it, I have to check that out. But since I have a couple of songs whose sound quality I try to achive, wouldn't it be helpful to put the PAS analyzer on that and print out the "ideal frequency curve"? Shouldn't it help me in getting a more balanced mix and the right amplitude by comparing my mixes with that? In that case, should I focus on the peak curve or the average fequency curve?

check out izotope ozone, it has a eq curve matching matching feature... pretty cool for quick mixes.... you can take a snapshot of a EQ curve from a mix you like then apply it to your mix... i like to bring up the pink noise curve and match my mixes to that..
ozone is by far the best home mastering tool... 8 plugs in one

Wow, I have to test that izotope ozone tool. I want to learn more about stuff like this.

Thanks for the suggestion!
