Hey all!
In the interest of getting to know one another, tell us about your band! Name, where you're located, style of music, originals or covers, what your role in the band is, anything else you'd care to share. Links to your web site or music are cool, too.
And if you don't play in a band but would like to, tell us who you are and what you're looking for!
I play guitar and co-write in a rock'n'roll band called What The...? (http://www.what-the.com). We've been together four years, released an independent CD in 2003 and recently completed a second one which will be out later this year. Already working on a third! Our music is in the classic power pop/roots rock style, with a lot of 60's British Invasion influence. Basically, this is my dream band. We're all really on the same page musically, have a deep vocabulary, everybody gets along well and the guys are a seriously talented and exciting rhythm section.
As a side project I also play in a psychedelic power pop band called Orange Hat (http://www.orangehat.com). The two co-frontmen and writers have been playing together for 20 years, they hooked up in high school. They are seriously talented dudes and we do a lot of multimedia stuff (video, art, comedy etc.) to accompany the music. We have a lot of fun and there's been quite a bit of cross pollination between my two bands as well.
So let's hear about the rest of you!

Hey Lee- cool details on your band(s).
Right now I'm playing in a "classic & modern rock" covers band. Your typical bar band I guess, but of course we think we are better than the rest! We do 1960's through 90's stuff... Oasis, Black Sabbath, 867-5309, Last Kiss... a pretty nice range as far as songs go. I really enjoy it. Oh, the band is called "The Ticket" or sometimes "Sik Ticket" depending on who you ask. I've been with this band for... I think 3 years now. They were a performing band before I joined, but I seem to have fit in very well as the only guitarist in this 4-piece group (bass, drums, vocals, and me on guitar).
In the past I've always played in originals bands. I'm 34 years old, and started playing in bands at the ripe ol age of 7. I was a drummer for several years and switched to guitar around 12 because the drums were driving my parents crazy.
Through high school and college my bands were leaning to the "thrash/heavy metal" side. My proudest moment of glory was my band in college from 1991-1994 called Syko Holiday. We toured the mid-Atlantic area and had a TON of fun living together and opening for bands like Fugazi. Syko Holiday has two "albums" available from me for free to anyone who's into "hardcore punk thrash metal noise." :)
I'm a major gear-junkie when it comes to guitars, and kind of a novice in the amp department. I've probably owned over 100 different guitars in my life. Right now I play a 1994 Hamer USA strat through a Marshall 100w half stack.
That's me on the left singing lead and playing the 1978 Gibson SG in Syko Holiday, 1993.

My name is Jesse. I am 20 years old & i play in a band here in Winnipeg, MB, Canada called the River City Hum. We are a 3 peice band. The best way I can decribe our music is an "Eclectic" Rock. We are a rock band but our songs incorporate funk, jazz, blues, latin, folk & bluegrass styles. We concentrate on having very original song forms & stylings, aswell as delivering stellar live shows. We play regularly here in winnipeg & have a 5 song EP out called "Gallery". We are currently working on new material (taking a performance break) & we plan on going back into the studio in early september to record another EP. Aswell, we are fighting the never ending battle of building a fan base (we despretly need a web site!). For any Winnipegers on the forum the next show we have booked is on saturday, aug. 27 @ dylan O' conor's Irish pub.
I'll try & post some of our songs, I just need to find a way to host them on the web 1st.

Hey Hey!
My band is called GROUND LEVEL, and we hail from Toronto, Ontario in the lovely land of Canada.
We are somewhere between a hard rock band and a metal band.....depends on the song I guess. As a power trio, we pride ourselves on an energetic live show. We are currently promoting our first studio album called "Trustfire".
All other details can be found on our website below......check out the tunes and let us know what you think!

Hey, Lee! Good to see you on The Other Side :D
The Fabulous Flemtones. We've been playing together under different band names since the mid-70s, and under this name for 19 years. Basic bar band - covers of Steely Dan, The Band, Allman Bros, Dead, Little Feat, SRV, Mavericks, etc. Three of the four of us sing, so we get some harmony action going, but it's more guitar-oriented rock. I'm strictly the bass player in this band, and have my share of lead singing and backup harmonies. These guys are my best friends, and have been for 30 years, so I can't help but have a great time playing music with them. I play either a DanElectro Longhorn, an Ibanez fretless, or a 74 Rick 4001 thru a Trace Elliot head and 4X10 cab. Still haven't finished with the 63 P-bass, so it's not in rotation.
Shameless self-promotion:

My band name is same as my moniker. I have just recently put the link to the website back into my sig. For quite awhile there, it was out of date while the band underwent a major line-up change. You can get a more or less complete story from the entries under News and About.
Our music is somewhat eclectic folk-rock-blues-jazz in varying proportions depending on the song.
The Music tab has links to songs on NoWhereradio.com and MySpace.com. They both have the same stuff, except a live cut from our first gig with the new line-up was added to My Space: Bum Left Ovary Girl - by our new rhythm player. Two of the songs (Come Back Up With You and Lighthouse Now) were written by me. The other cut, Lounge Lizards, was co-written by two former members of the band, one of whom plays some sax on it.
I play lead guitar and sing, and also play some fiddle with the band. I've been working on banjo recently, and will be working it in somehow soon.
I am the only founding member of the band left, and am pretty much in charge, though I like to be democratic about most things. We are an originals band, though we throw in some covers occasionally. Most of the songs we do currently are mine, and I have quite a few others which we will be learning, along with the new ones I and the other guys write.
I'm the old guy in the pictures, where I'm playing my strat. I just picked up a G&L ASAT Classic Semi-hollow which I've been playing more recently most of the time.
I played out quite a bit back in the seventies, but found it was not very compatible with my marriage after a couple of years, and didn't do much other than keep up my skills on an acoustic for about fifteen years or so. The marriage ended in the late '90's and was finalized in 2002. In 2001, I was laid off my day-job and spent 27 days in the hospital having surgery and other fun procedures. When I got out, I decided it was time to do something about all this music I had written and continued to write, and decided I would have a band and would make sure everything I had written got recorded decently.
I own the pa, the rehearsal space, the amps we use, the website and domain, and right now I'm loaning the rhythm player one of my guitars because I think it has more of the sound we need than the one he was using. So I'm pretty much central to what the band is about. I'm the oldest in the band by about 22 years right now.
Glad to meet y'all!

My name is Ryan and I'm 22. I'm in the band Faded out of Houston, Texas. We're an original hard rock band. We are currently a 4 piece, but looking to be a 5 piece as we are trying out rhythm guitarists right now. We are all out of the Houston area. We have an aggressive rock sound with strong vocal melodies, cool riffs, big solos, and distinctive bass lines.
We also do cover gigs to cover band expenses, but our main goal is to be an all original band. As a cover band, we basically choose what we like and see if it works at a bar. We play alot of biker bars as a cover band due to our hard rock style. We cover bands like Alice In Chains, RATM, Deftones, Misfits, STP, Tool, etc.
I'm the guitarist, one of the main song writers, and one of the founding members. The singer and I are the main song writers, but our bass player has written a few, too. Our singer and I are also the founding members. He and I were looking to start a band and write music with originality that doesn't copy trends that are already out. We are looking to do our own thing and make quality music that would be remembered years from now.
My style as a guitarist is very blues/rock based. My influences are Jerry Cantrell, Peter Klett (Candlebox), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Carl Bell (Fuel), Slash, Jeff Beck, and Eddie Van Halen.
Our websites are:
www.FadedTX.net
We have photos and band/individual bios.
www.myspace.com/FadedTX
We have our 3 track studio deom on here and a live track performed at The Rhythm Room in Houston, TX. We also post our show dates and lastes band news on here as well.

Hi. Most everyone knows me anyway, since I bitch about everything.
The last band I was in parted ways less than a month ago and strangly enough our singer, that made the band split up, is working with me writing songs. At first our idea was to write songs that could be simple G,C, Der's, to complex acoustic shreds.
I guess some of the cool things about doing what we are doing is we just play for hours and hours on end. It usually starts with us on acoustics, him on a standard and me on a 12'er, we'll work out progressions and just layer over the other players chords. It's fun to do, but I bet it might sound a little overkill to the average listener.
Anyways, it's your basic stuff that other musicians would like to hear once and a while, for five minutes, then become bored with it.
I just think it's too much of a good thing like, trying to do too much in one song.
Plus we have taken this simple idea of acoustics and now are recording electric sounds into the songs and really electric guitar players is what the both of us really are anyways.

most of the serious guys from OJ already know me and the band I play in Push Off (http://www.pushoff.net/nuke/), but for those that don't...I'm Drew, and I play guitar. we hail from the westside of the Motor City, and we are an all original five piece. I play in other projects from time to time, but my main focus is Push Off, and these tunes. (http://www.pushoff.net/nuke/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=1)
those are the EP demo versions of a few of the songs on our upcoming full length. we have three days booked this week, and we will record a total of 10 or 12 tracks. I will post more tunes when have mixed them down.
I will have to come back to this thread and check out all the music later, as the wife JUST got done with supper, but I can't wait!

I play in a rockin' blues band called the Rhythm 'H' in the southern part of Ontario, Canada. 2 guitars, bass and drums. We play Gibson guitars through Fender tube amps. We're all 40 somethin's that've been playin' for well over 20 years and still get a big kick out of playin' together. We gig 2-3 weekends a month, on average.
We cover all the greats, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King, B.B. King, Bo Diddley, Allman Bros. SRV. We throw in the occasional tune by Peter Tosh, Santana, the Rolling Stones etc.
Most peple aren't real familiar with the blues stuff (except SRV and the Allman Bros.) so we play some classic rock stuff to let 'em know we know what we're doing.
We play what we want and thankfully we have a good following and a number of venues that appreciate us. It's good fun that keeps us young at heart and coming back for more.
No plans to ever stop.

80% of my gigs are solo, but I do a few gigs a month with my trio "Too Hot For Snakes", and we do a mixture of folky-jazzy-Celtic-Bluesy-jam band stuff. I play acoustic/electric 6 and 12-string guitars, lead vocals, racked harmonica, and write about 1/2 of our repertoire, and do most of the basic arrangements. The rest of our repertoire is a variety of covers and traditional material. Bass/harmony vox is played by either Richard Hargis or Wendy Walters, hand percussion/harmony vox is Emaleigh Katelyn Hall.
Occ., we augment the trio with a few other folks as schedules permit...The Amazing Valerie (Valerie Siskiss) - electric violin, viola, octave violin and harmony vox), Jamour Neirhym - tablas and other nifty percussion, and/or Jaime Rodriguez - flute, sax, melodica and accordian.

Band: Dirty Bath Water
Type of Music: Rock w/ R&B, Jazz, Funk, Pop, Blues, Soul, etc etc etc. All original music. Other people sometimes describe us as Dave Matthews Band meets The Roots meets Outkast.
What is MY role? I handle all the business, manage the website, and basically handle anything technical. I also play Trumpet/Fugelhorn/Trombone, rap, and compose -n- write some of the music.
Website: www.dirtybathwater.com. There you will find all the info about us, show schedule, our music etc. Also check out www.lanstarr.com, that is my personal site with my music. I do hip hop and r&b production.
Other stuff: We recently opened up on the side stage for the Dave Matthews Band. That was a fun show. We also just released out independent album. As I stated above, I play horns, but we also have an acoustic guitarist (and sometimes electric), keyboardist, drummer who beatboxes, and a bass player. That is about it.

Our band is Blues Channel, an eclectic mix of blues variants from the 1930s to the 1960s. I play guitar, slide, lapsteel on occasion and sing lead vocal. We have three lead singers, and aside from myself, there is a keyboardist (piano and Hammond)/singer, a harmonica player percussionist singer, bass and drums.
We are based in Los Angeles, not a very blues friendly town, unfortunately.... We have been fortunate enought to do bills with War and the Charlie Daniels band, and play mostly non-blues festivals during the summer, a swell as private picnics, that sort of thing. We still do clubs, but this is getting harder to do lately, as the great rooms, like BB Kings, where we used to be regulars, are going pay-2-play.:(
if you are interested, our website is in my sig:cool:

My band is called The Shroud of Lowell, we're a hard rock trio, doing original material. The style is eclectic, with influences that range from Sabbath, Bowie, Nick Cave to the Stones, Beatles and ZZ Top.
We've been together for 2 1/2 years, I compose songs, play guitar and sing. My bass player writes and sings also. Me and the drummer played in the eighties new wave band The Nails, so we have professional writing, recording and performing experience.
At our age and with the music buisness the way it is I don't expect to get a major record deal. I just want to write cool songs, make indie CD's and play for people that dig it.

Botch - Keyboards, vocals, fiddle, harp, tenor sax
Danny - our college-trained soundman, so glad he puts up with us!

Our band is best described as follows: www.735band.com. I am the old fart playing bass. I don't drink. My face is always that red. I work out in the sun everyday. We just like to play out about 2-3 times a month. Get together about every Thurs. night at the studio, and relax, go over some new songs, try to remember the old ones. The drummer and the girl singer are married. Me and Greg are basically the sidemen. We keep it short and simple. We have way too much gear, but its my only habit. We play the local club/bar scene, but try to play for corporate parties and society type gigs where we can make some guaranteed money.

Hi, my name is Dave and I'm a guitaraholic......
Wait, wrong forum.
Actually I'm in a cover band (at least for the present moment) in Baltimore, MD. We call ourselves Driving Blind. (Yeah, I know, it's been used before but it's the name of a Ray Bradbury novel so bfd) It's a good name.
driving blind (http://drivingblindlive.com)
Sound clips!
We are all in our 40's and just do this for fun but we sound pretty damn good if I say so myself.
We do 2 gigs per month because some of us have wives and children who we want to stay connected to. Oh yeah, we all have real jobs too.
I play guitar, book gigs, do promotion (such as it is) and do the Dr. Phil thing for the band all while taking lessons from a local guitar guru.
I've played a long time but this is the first band venture for me. I didn't do it when I was a kid (like I should have) but I was too into the party scene to get serious enough to play in a band.
Then came a stint in the military, followed by wife and kids and before I knew it I was forty-something. A friend called out of the blue one day and offered me a chance to play - in a band - and I figured it was now or never. So I've spent the past three years learning how to put and keep a band together, which maybe the most difficult thing I've ever attempted. (Besides working on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier or raising kids). Seriously, bands are held together with chewing gum, spider webs and gaffer's tape and are always one step from the edge of breaking up.
In this short period of time I've had to:
- Kick out the friend who got me back into playing in order to keep the band together (talk about fun!)
and
- overcome a severe case of stagefright (which I've done).
All in all, it's been worth it in that I've overcome by biggest fear and if I wouldn't have I'd probably be a miserable old man shouting at the TV someday.
I can retire early in 5 years and I plan on playing for my second income (hence the lessons). It took me long enough but I finally figured out what I want to do.
Play guitar in front of an audience.
It's cheaper than therapy.

Hi kids. Welcome to all of you who brought this forum over from wherever it used to be. ;)
I'm in two bands, both do original music, and thus make no money at it.
In my "main" band, Crash Pad, I'm the lead singer, lead guitarist, songriter, booker, etc. It's a punk rock and roll band (think stuff like the Pistols, Ramones, Clash, 999, Damned, NY Dolls, Heartbreakers, etc.). The band website is linked below in my sig, we also have a myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/CrashPad
Crash Pad had been around for almost 10 years. We put out a full-length cassette (!) years ago, then a little 3-song demo CD, and several years ago a full-length CD, all DIY. If I can ever get enough people to stick with the band for long enough we'll do another full-length next year. Here's a pic of a recent version of the band:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v26/BrianKrashpad/birfday2005allBKlunge.jpg
My "side" band does roots rock and is called Hoyt and the HotHeads. My day job coworker Hoyt is the frontperson and writes the material. I started in the band as bassist but moved over to lead when they fired the initial lead player. We put out a DIY full-length CD about a year ago and have another 7-song CD in the can but not yet released.
The websites for the HotHeads are:

Howdy! My primary band these days is called Sacred Cowboys (http://www.sacredcowboys.com). We're a 7-piece Rock/Country band from Los Angeles. The nucleus of the band (myself and 3 others) has been gigging sporadically for about 2 1/2 years, but the expanded version just gelled around March of this year.
Our singer is a more and more well-known character actor who is currently on the HBO series "Deadwood," which comes in real handy when it comes to booking gigs. We recently played 2 shows in Deadwood, SD for their "Wild Bill Days" street festival, opening for Survivor and Ambrosia on one night, and current New Country hot shots Big and Rich on the other. We're recording an album right now, and are beginning what we hope will become a regular monthly residency at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood.
BTW, in case you look at the website, I'm Jeff.

My main band, Aces & Eights started off as a blues & bluesy rock band. I wanted to do songs that spanned from Blues Brothers-style Chicago R&B up through SRV-style Texas blues and blues-inspired rock. I was tired of waiting to be picked up by other bands/musicians, so I kicked this off as an idea with a songlist, image/logo, & website...all I needed were musicians.
So I hung up flyers at local shops and posted a dozen ads online. After weeks of jamming with new people that didn't fit for various reasons, I met my key players through a non-musician friend here at work. Go figure. As it turns out, I have found a group of like-minded, cooperative individuals who are a lot like me in most respects (jobs, families, ages, temperaments & tolerances) and we are currently an asshole-free band. Sweet.
We've been at it for about 10 months to date, in various forms. The band is pretty tight. Our songlist has evolved into a much funkier version of itself than I had originally envisioned, and our calendar is filling up!
Here's our website, which has pics, mp3's, a songlist, and more.

Well, my name is Jon, 38(also known in these parts as Tuck) and I normally play for several bands, but I'll only introduce one of them since it's the only one with a website.
I play keyboards in band called Mind Sky. Our music is best described as symphonic, progressive rock in the same vein as Yes, The Flower Kings, and Genesis. We do mostly originals, but we also do a few covers from The Flower Kings and UK, as well. The band has been together for about 5 years now, I've been with them for about 2 years. Our outfit consists of a vocalist, a drummer, a bass player(who also plays Taurus pedals), a guitarist, and I play alongside another keyboardist. Our website is at www.mindskyband.com (http://www.mindskyband.com/). We recently released a CD called, "Timewise". Please PM me if interested in a copy.

We are The Pontiac Blues Band. No, we're not from Pontiac, Michigan nor are we sponsored by GM. The Pontiac Blues Band was conceived in 1984 by friends from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin who decided to create a fun musical outlet for themselves. One of the first tunes the band rehearsed was the Sonny Boy Williamson classic 'Pontiac Blues'. While practicing, it came out that Harp player Warren owned a 1970 Firebird. Bassist Ron also owned a classic Pontiac and Drummer Vic had owned a '65 Catalina convertible. Since all of the members were Pontiac fans, what other name could they pick? After a few personnel changes and 20 years of fun band experiences, The Pontiac Blues Band consists of:
Paul Williams on Guitar/Vocals
Vic Tomasello on Drums
Ron Frost on Bass/Vocals
and
Bud Farr on Piano, B3 and Vocals.
From our humble beginnings as a West side Chicago-style Blues Shuffle band, we have morphed into an amalgam of everything soulful with a wide repertoire of original and cover tunes that include Blues, Soul, Jazz, Funk and Rock music. Our primary goal is and has always been to play to the song with as much passion and energy as possible.
We began with the goal of playing occasional weekends but our popularity in the club and festival scenes grew and by the mid-90's we were playing 10-12 gigs per month. The demands on family, day gigs and sanity began to show so we pulled back and currently play 2-4 shows per month sticking mostly to clubs. It's a good thing and allows us to explore the passion within ourselves and our music.

We've been together for less than a year, and we're already hitting some trouble spots with the roster, but its mostly a jam band anyway. It's atleast kept within the spectrum of rock, but spans from a heavy metal System of a Down-esque song, to those that take root of something out of Muse. We take a lot of influence from Smashing Pumpkins and other very 90's bands.

Well, I am Tom, aka KeysBear. I play keyboards and sax in a classic rock band called Prism here in the Fort Lauderdale area. We also do a Doors tribute show which is cool because our singer sounds naturally more like Morrison than any singer I've ever heard. Our lead singer was born in London, our drummer is from S. Africa, our lead guitarist is a genius from Colombia, and we've had four bass players in the past year. Our current bassist used to tour in a Grateful Dead type of endless travelling show. His hair is some scary fro thing.
I play a Roland RS-9 88 key synth and a Roland AX-7 (keytar) that controls two Roland JV1010's and a Kawai K4 rack. My tenor sax is a Yamaha I've had since 1985 that seems to get warmer every year. I'm 48 years old and have no plans to ever retire from gigging. Peace to you all.

My band's called ElectroDog . We are based out of Asheville, NC.
The band is singer-songwriter based, and we have been described as sounding like: Jack Johnson, Wilco, Jayhawks...etc. We play all original songs (stuff I have written, and performed solo), and have recently changed our line up to a 4 pc. Myself on acoustic/elec. guitar, which I run through a classic Crybaby Wah (yes, this works, and has proven to create a very unique sound for my rhythmic playing style) , also through an old Korg pedal board. A drummer on a V-Kit, and keyboards and bass.
What started out evolving from my songs into a band with guitar solos on every song, is evolving furthur into a band that really knows how to showcase the actual song. Awesome, I think.
Sometimes I get lot of shit by people in other types of bands for writing that is somewhat poppy, but it's how I write, and thankfully, completely marketable. So, that's the direction we are headed in now.
If anyone is interested in playing base for us...get in touch :)

My name is Shane and my band is The Angry Gods of the Radio. We play straight ahead bluesy rock\metal stuff and it's all original. I just joined the band a couple of weeks ago and we are planning on recording end of September and then gigging after that. We are on myspace under Angry Gods of the Radio. There is a horribly recorded version of one of our songs on there that was recorded before I joined the band but it will give you an idea.

My stage name is Michael D. and I am the guitar player and only vocalist (although I do cheat and use a harmonizer) in an oldies/classic rock trio called "Rock This Town". We do mainly bars and clubs in the Lancaster, California area, 90 miles north of LA. Other instruments are (as you may have guessed) bass and drums. I'm privileged to be working with two of the best musicians in Lancaster - the Amazing Randy on the bass and Mean Martin the Drumming Machine. No website yet, but I'm working on it.
I also work with a number of other local bands, including The Del-Aires (an oldies band out of Lancaster), Denim (an oldies classic rock band from Tehachapi, CA), and occasionally I'm the banjo player/singer for Anton Schintzel and the Merrymakers, a German Polka Band from Lancaster (Hey, I'll do anything for a buck). I'm also the guitarist /vocalist with Band X, a trio which coordinates the jam sessions at a local club called the Trap each Sunday afternoon. As you can imagine, I don't get too many weekends off.

Greetings from Patras, Hellas(Greece).
I am Klearchos and I play at an original band called ANELIXIS. The band is only 6 months old, but we are on the recording phase of our demo CD. We play Heavy Metal mostly with many Hard Rock influence.
I play the guitar and sing, doing also most of the songwriting and sound manipulating. There's also a bassist, a drummer and another Lead guitarist.
So far we kick arse when we go LIVE, people love us, we even made a VCD from our last live, but unfortunately there's no URL available at the time...gonna fix it soon.

Location: London, UK
Role: Guitar, designer, media darling
Sound: This comment was posted on our myspace profile and it nearly made me weep, it was so beautiful:
PEOPLE GET READY
I Heard some new music this weekend that will
give great comfort to those of you who
have been missing a dirty
sexy girl rock n roll
group of the Runaways/Suzy Quatro/Girlschool/ and L7 ilk,
YOUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED cos THE TITS OF DEATH are about to fill
that void.
Other stuff: We play originals (no one else would have made this shit up), and we've been together for about 8 months. It all started as a Sunday evening session in our keyboardist's living room, mainly just jumping around and doing stupid Spinal Tap-esque rock poses and was never meant to see the light of day, but we've since graduated to making complete arses out of ourselves in public.

I play in a cover band in Central New York called Off the Wagon. We cover a lot of Dead, Dylan and Neil Young, with a bunch of random deep cuts thrown in. We dont do the radio songs (Truckin, Sugar Mag, Watchtower) except for a good drunken Rockin in the Free World, mostly tunes you'd have to be a Head to know.
We range from a 3 piece to a 7 piece, depending on who wants to sit in. we started as an all-acoustic thing with banjos and mandolins and acoustic bass and guitars, but have gone electric, adding keys and drums. We still delve into the acoustic realm occasionally, though.
I play rhythm guitar and sing, both lead and harmonies. The lead player sings the Neil tunes, and the bass player and I switch up the rest.
Peace out

I'm Billy. I play guitar and sing in Confused Little Girl. We're pretty much just a heavy rock band. Here's our bio:
Confused little girl isn't alternative. It for damned sure isn't metal or hardcore. And god dammit, if anyone ever called CLG emo screamo type stuff, they'd probably get a swift kick to the groin. No, Confused Little Girl is some guys who like rock music... A LOT. Not the sissy kind of rock music found on most modern rock radio stations, either. We're talking old school play it loud or don't play it at all kind of rock music. Formed and founded in Central Florida after years of musical frustrations and failures in the career of Billy Myers, Confused Little Girl is Billy on Vocals and Guitar, Zach Knight on lead guitar, Chris Penley at the drums, and Big Rob Martinez on bass. Collectively, they have played thousands of shows throughout the Central Florida area and the United States. A soon to be released full length album entitled "Bowlers do it with Balls" is in the works, with many regional performances and several tours to promote it shortly after it's release. Stay Tuned.

Hi Michael here, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for "The Love Handles". A Portland , Oregon based 5 piece (git x 2, keys, drums, bass) cover band (for now anyway) doing everything from Arlo Guthrie to ZZ Top. We have been working on our show and set lists for almost 4 months now. We do some Motown, some great classic Rock, some Blues....you name it, we'll try it. We try to do covers that other bands won't try. Heard it in a Love Song by Marshall Tucker. Running On Empty, by Jackson Brown. Can't Get Enough of You're Love ( no.... not the lame ass Bad Company song.) Barry White man!!!!!!!!! My Girl by the Temps.
The Letter, Draggin a Line, Glory Days, Feelin Alright (by Joe Cocker man), stuff like that. We veer from classic country (Folsom Prison) to newer country (Wave on Wave) to top 40 radio (Heaven by Los Lonely Boys) to classic Blues (SRV) to rock (Monkees, Stealers Wheels) to R&B and soul. We even do a disco set for corporate gigs. We all believe that good music is good music. We do Queen, we do Warren Zevon, we do Mellencamp. 3 and 4 part harmonies for days. This is the best band I've put together in 25 years of singing and playing. We had our first paying gig this Saturday and it was great. Our next one is a biggie, we have two agents coming out to hear us. October 29th. Wish us luck. Thanks for reading. Peace.:D
All you Portland area folks come out to the C.I. Bar and Grill in Tualatin to cheer us on. Ostober 29th. 9 to close.

I play in a metal/hard rock band called "M@sterMind". We write a lot of original material but also do the cover deal so we can finance our all original shows and studio efforts. We've been together for about 3 yrs and play mostly the Georgia, Florida, and Alabama nightclub circuit.
We're a 5 piece ensemble, which really makes some of the covers we do sound fuller, since we play stuff like Drowning Pool, Chevelle, 'Tallica, Slayer, Pantera, etc. Can't beat two guitarists in a band in my opinion.

name: William
position in the band: Rhythm guitar/singer/to be the most handsome
equipment: 2004 Gibson SG(natural burst); Randall RH50T head and Mesa Standard Rectifier cab(412)...umm, what else would one need.
Coming out of the Wilmington, NC area, I play in a band called Broken Down and we've been together for about two years now.
All of our songs are original and can be described as hard rock/metal. Most of our crowd base has an age range from 15-45 so we consider ourselves able to reach a wide audience. Our first gig we ever did was a battle of the bands here in town and got 3rd out of 40 bands. We've released a studio demo in the past but had a horrible experience so all of our recordings now are done at home with our new digi studio. We think its more fun and the creative side comes out more instead of looking at your watch all day worrying how long you've been there. Our newest release is in the making now and will be released under a different bandname which has yet to be decided. You can hear a little bit of us at www.purevolume.com/brokendown. There's one recording we did in the "real" studio and two live clips from when we played with a local favorite ASG. crazy show to say the least.

I'm new to this forum. My first comment: wheresgrant3 rocks.
Here's a little bit about my current cover band:
My main gig is a part time weekend thing with a 9-10 piece 70's funk/soul/etc. band. SoulerCoaster (http://www.soulercoaster.com )
Some folks call our market the "general business" or GB market. We play mainly weddings, corporate parties and music festivals. We do play out in clubs about every 6 weeks or so, for fun and exposure.
This band is primarily for fun and a weekend escape from reality, but we've actually built up some pretty decent name recognition and make good money doing this. It does not float my boat as much as playing in a original act, which I did for many years and still do off and on. But once I got over my perception of the stigma associated with being in a cover band, it is actually a ton of fun. The guys in the band get along great and we do several gigs throughout the year in which we donate all or part of our time to charities - we agree to a pay cut in exchange for promotion and this is great for those silent auctions to benefit the American Heart Association or whatever it may be. So it is fun and fulfilling.
I have done the full original thing for 10 years plus and shared the stage with plenty of notorious artists. Nowadays, I'm happy to play covers for decent cash and pick up the occasional "rock star" gig a couple times a year.
Regards,
Eric

I'm new to this forum since the Fender forum decided to require payment to post. Yeah, I'm cheap. But with gas over $3.00 a gallon here, I don't have time for that.
My band is a 3-piece classic rock/blues outfit called Rhythm Rock-It. Lately we've been incorporating funk into the song list and intend to do a lot more...about 40% classic rock, 40% funk and 20% blues. Recently we played "Low Rider" at a couple gigs and people went nuts for it. So we will be doing more. And I'd like to do some more modern rock, but don't really like many "newer" bands...they all sound the same to me.
I'm the guitarist and sole vocalist. I pretty much am the band leader and to this point, have booked all the gigs we've done. We were busy last summer, but sort of petered out last winter due to a couple life-sized issues that got in the way.
We don't gig that much currently, but I'm hoping to change that. I recently moved, need to update all the promo stuff, but am still living out of boxes, so that has slowed me down. And the new house and property needs lots of work, so I've been busy with that.
I play a Standard Strat with Fralin Vintage Hots, or a real nice Samick "Torino." It's basically an SG - one of the nice Greg Bennett models. Mostly I use the SG for slide tunes. I have a modest pedal board (compressor, overdrive, delay) and use a Peavey Classic 50/410...awesome amp for our style.
My son (15) is our bass player...he's really amazing. He plays a Spector bass into an Ashdown head, with a pair of Genz Benz cabs...115 and 410. He rocks.
Our drummer has been sidelined recently, but is now ready to gig again. He plays a huge DW Pacific kit and can really rock. He and my son are a very formidable rhythm section.
We've toyed with the idea of adding a 4th member, but probably won't, as our chemistry is really special. Plus, we don't want to pay anyone else!
Parallex
09-07-2005, 07:05 PM
I used to post in the music biz forum a lot back in the day, now i'm pretty much only in the live sound and production forum.
i'm josh, i'm soon to be 24, and my band is Parallex and we're from Ames, Iowa (home of Iowa State University and crappy college sports teams). When I'm not making music I work for a professional sound company based out of ames and i'm also a microbiologist at an animal pharmaceuticals company.
Parallex is a five piece......2 guitars, drummer, bass, and a rather talented singer. There are actually two all-state singers in the band, one plays the other guitar, and one is the lead singer. it's just kind of weird, for reasons I don't know why. We play hard rock/pop rock/alternative, so we end up with a lot of old people, young people, teeny boppers, lots of chicks, and kids that like our music. we play in iowa, minnesota, nebraska, and illionois, but currently with gas prices just making the circuit in iowa is going to have to suffice. Influences in the band are Collective Soul, Tonic, Coldplay, Metallica, Blue October, Matchbox 20, Filter, Muse, Fuel, Rush, Tool....it's kind of all over the board. I play guitar/keyboards/songwriting.
My rig is a Marshall DSL 100 with 1960A cab and keyboard is a Roland XP 80. For my guitar I play a modded to hell Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition Custom, that I put grover tuners on, bigger pots, new switches and knobs, new (better) wiring, and PRS McCarty pickups. This guitar is absolutely beautiful which is why I choose to play it. And with all the upgrades, it sounds awesome too. And I have your typical hodgepodge of Boss effects.
Ok, no one really cares when they read these, so I'm stopping here....

Hey all,
I play in a Boston band called Amigazo
Our style is hard rock/metal even though we're not really trying to write to a genre as much as we're trying to write music we want to play.
There are four guys in the band: two guitars, bass and drums. Our lead vocalist is one of the guitar players.
We play around Boston a little and are mostly booking our own shows. Come check out our music at our website amigazo.com (http://www.amigazo.com) or myspace (http://www.myspace.com/amigazo) and let us know what you think. If you like the music, think we complement each other, and are interested in doing a show with us, drop us a line through the websites and we'll talk.

I play guitar in a band called Coma of Loss. We're located in Tampere, Finland.
Our music is proggressive trash metal (in style of Opeth, Hypocrisy, Meshuggah etc.). We started in january 2001. Just got our first demo out (link in the sig). Our music doesn't sound much like those songs anymore, a lot more proggressive and aggressive now.
I mostly write the songs and lyrics and bring them to our rehearsals. After that they will naturally change a lot.

Hey JP,
There are some very big Portuguese festivals on the East US coast and in Canada that you could probably get booked for quite easily. There is one here in Fall River every (late) summer and one in Newark, NJ every (mid?) summer. You ought to look into it. I've played the one in NJ: there were close to 250,000 people there! The Fall River thing usually brings in 10 - 15 thousand people. Good Luck!

We play all over the south side of Atlanta-Griffin, McDonough, Rex, Locust Grove, Conyers...and in Middle GA we hit Thomaston on a regular basis. We try to give a more "groove" oriented show than the typical bar band, but we are still one without such songs as: "Free Bird", "Give Me Three Steps", "Sweet Home Alabama", "Pride and Joy", "Stormy Monday"...although we do hit some trite overplayed songs, but hey, we're all young here. Sometimes you have to overplay them for ourself, you know?

Hey everyone- I wanted to introduce myself and the band I'm a part of.
www.reaxis.net www.myspace.com/reaxis - a 5 piece band out of Boston, MA. We are currently crafting a full length album to follow up our 4 song EP last year. We have toured the northeast, and are constantly inspired by other local bands!
We play alternative rock- our songs are pretty much all over the map- with acoustic / electric guitars. We are inspired by Stone temple pilots, smashing pumpkins, dave matthews, tool, and perhaps a bit o' sinatra. Individually we have tastes that range from metal to pop.
I organize many shows- and help other bands book, so if you are a cool set of musicians looking to work together- feel free to email me! Im always looking for grounded musicians willing to help out others.

We gig regularly and are currently trying to organise a tour through Germany.

We're Belgian, by the way.

Hey! I'm 55 years old and have been playing the same 25 songs in Texas beer joints since 1966! But I expect to be discovered any minute! We usually set up over by the pool table or mens room door, so you have to watch out for the pool cues (they put dents in your guitar) or the smell of urine and vomit from the mens room. But other than those things...It's a wonderful life!
As soon as I get out of this Detox I expect to get right back into it cause I know I will make the big time any minute! Yee Ha!!!

I play in two bands in Suffolk County New York. High Noon, does country and some classic rock. We've been together for about 15 years with the same 4 guys. I've worked with the bass player and drummer since 1969 in many different bands. You can check us out at www.highnoonlongisland.com My other band is called The Sea Monkeys. They do strictly classic rock, mainly geared at an adult contemporary crowd. The band is basically a trio, myself on guitar and harmonica, bass and drums. We all sing lead and harmony, and we have very strong vocals. sometimes we use a 4th piece, keyboard or 2nd guitar, whoever is available. I average about 2 gigs a week or better. About 2 thirds of that with High Noon, the other third with The Sea Monkeys, and this is just my weekend gig.

Hi everyone. I'm new here, but I've been around the Bass Forum for quite a while. I'm in a band called The Helium Tapes. We play all originals (well... we have a cover or two). We don't sound like anybody I know of. The stuff just comes out the way it comes out. But it's quite accessible.
We have a Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/theheliumtapes2
I play mostly bass and sing a little backing vox. I also play a little guitar and keys. Keys is the instrument I'm most proficient in but our vocalist ends up playing them live since it would be hard for me to do while playing bass;).
I handle the technical side of things, ie. engineering/mixing, troubleshooting, even building the odd pedal/interface/gadget when it's called for. The other folks do more of the image/concept work, booking, and networking. I also tend to generate musical ideas first and then we work on them as a band to make them into songs.
We've been together for 1 1/2 yrs and have recorded a four-song demo. We've played out quite a bit (about 1nce a month) and we just started working on our full-length self-produced CD.
Check us out!

Hey All:
My name is Brad and I play in a band called Powerhouse (among about a gazillion other bands called Powerhouse) out of Hickory, NC (about an hour northwest of Charlotte).
We are a five piece Classic Rock/New Country sort of thing. Hell we can pull a bunch of stuff out of our rear ends. Our website is www.powerhouse5.com where you can check us out and see our song list and listen to a few tunes. I'm the keyboard player/webmaster and appreciate any feedback (yeah I know it's FrontPage!).
We play out about 4-6 times a month and are gaining some local momentum. Lead singer is killer (and just a baby) ... and the ladies seem to love him (I can't imagine why). The guitar player and I go way back like about 30 years and we've both played in a ton of bands.
Lee invited me over here after I posted some issues I was dealing with regarding the band. I usually hang out in the Keyboard and SSS forums. Hope I can learn from you and be able to contribute something worthwhile occasionally. Thanks for the invite Lee. There are some talented bands in here (...does the "we're not worthy" impression). Cool forum!

Rob Neary - Crazy guitarist stuff & vocals, bass
I have been playing guitar since I was 16yrs old. My dad was a big Eric Clapton fan, and as Eric started at 16yrs old, my dad gave me guitar lessons as a Christmas present
I spent my first 2 years learning classical guitar with an old Spanish guitarist at school.
I met up with (now my best friend) Matt during music lessons. I remember he had a very 80's Marlin electric guitar and the class went "wow".
We used to hide in the music closet and jam (very badly).
My dad then decided to invest in an electric guitar (see pic number 1 on my photo gallery) for me; it was a cherry red vantage guitar and had 3 tone switches and a volume really cool.
Many a summer day was spent hanging out with both of us trying to learn as many new riffs as possible?
It was fun learning new stuff from Extreme to Van Helen to Megadeth each week...trying to out do each other!
I did a few gig's here and there for colleges and one was for the rock school workshop at the harlequin theatre in readhill.......it was organised by "Herbie Flowers" the bassist from "Asia" and "David bowie"..
It was really cool and the guitarist from "Little Angels" tuned up my”
IBANEZ" and said he "had one just like this..."
The Ibanez (old red, frankenstien) was bough in separate pieces and put together by Matt, I still have it today and it’s a fantastic guitar!!
I continued to learn and started writing my own material.
I decided to write a mixture tunes to get my first CD going, called "Evolution" back in 2002....and the CD has been sellinq well since.
Off the back of "Evolution" i had a tune on tv called "your always on my mind" for TXTME TV...it was featured for 6months.
. I am currently written all my own music, but am actively looking to start a band. All I ask is that people listen to my music and drop me an email of what they think!
Throughwww.cdbaby.comyou can buy my 3 CD’S or any other artists’ in the sale section to qualify for the $5.00 price per CD…

Hi i'm Aldo Vaccaro from Toronto Canada , have a Listen to some of my guitar work/song Writing and tell me what you think.
I've Finally finished my CD/DVD and would like some Constructive energy behind it. I'm using my own custom built guitar/pickup,which allows me to play multi guitar parts all at the same time. (you need to see it to fully understand)It's like advancing stanley Jordans technique of tapping and bringing it into a melodic rock music.
We've recently launched a website. You can download some video and mp3 samples of EVOLUTION at:
http://www.vaccaro.ca
My suggestions for videos are:
Light Years - Complex independent harmonies played at same time.
Violins - solo ballad
Caffeine - snippet if you like super fast guitar playing.
Ventura's cover - Multi notes & harmonics played with distortion at same time.
Performances of chopin Op66 & bach invention 13 done on a regular 6 string Electric guitar will also be posted in the new year.
My favorite vocal tunes are:
All Eyes
All The Rage
Two Minutes
& Parachute

Well this is a fine band, between us we have clocked years of flying time, we landed in the sweet spot when we formed up, three well experianced players all with blues on the mind, from the moment we powered up the valves, it was evidant something special was taking place, we played tight, felt the vibe and worked with each other in a sympathetic way that was like we had always been together!
We are playing at the Six bells in Brentford on the 16 of December and you really have to come and absorb some of this magic, you will be blown away!
I would so love to have some of you that are free that night attend!
Please follow up this thread if you are coming and let me know- Thanks mates!

Howdy,
I am in a band called The Nudniks. We are a standard four-peice rock band from Eugene, OR and our primary influences are: The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Husker Du, Sleater-Kinney, Dinosaur Jr, Pavement, X, The Clash, Sebadoh, Mudhoney, CCR, Uncle Tupelo, The Replacements, Guided by Voices and stuff like that.
Jake (me) plays Gibson LP Jr. DCs and Mexican Fenders through rats, big muffs, and a Randall RG100 2x12 combo while trying to sing.
Ben plays a Gibson ES-335 into a surprisingly not crappy Crate 2x12 combo.
Brain plays an Ibanez bass into a Trace Elliott amp with a 6x10 Ampeg cab.
Steve plays the drums fairly hard and breaks sticks frequently.

Oi! I play guitar in Big Balls, an AC/DC tribute band that focuses on the Bon Scott era. We're based in Austin and do most of our gigging here (we play out about once a month, on average), but we have made a few trips to other Texas towns. Keep an eye (and an ear) out for us if you're in the area and you like high voltage rock and roll!
Rossiband
12-16-2005, 09:34 PM
We are The Rossiband. You can hear three of our songs , copy written this year, just search rossiband at www.cornerband.com. I love playing a lot of Rolling Stones lately. I think Keith is unbelievable , just the fact he's still alive.Any way we write a lot have our one rec. studio and port a stage. But we're sort of down and out now . Our drummer O.Ded, we need to find a new one it's hard ,it's like being married.I like a lot of old school stuff.SRV, BB King ,Kenny Wayne, AC /DC ,Great White,Yes even Poison and Eagles. We mostly play our one stuff at gigs .I like biker/parties. We won't be able to gig this summer if we don't pull it back up. I think we're to picky. Its hard to find musicians that are not strung out or a drinker. I myself do not drink or smoke or do drugs, how else can I remember 1000 lyrics. I sing and play guitar, electric and acoustic. I like to slide and harp too. OH, my name Is David Rossi I'm fearless On stage, I play nude .I don't care as long as I feel the energy.I like to show off . I don't believe I have a big ego. I probably do But, I like to see their eyes wide open and jaw dropped when I play or it's just a show. I also have a good bass player she is awesome, she does a lot of sliding and improvising. She's my best friend and wife she smokes , doesn't do drugs or drink .She co-writes all our stuff. WE live in Bandon
Oregon right on the coast Phone # is 541 347 9015. One note music is my world I live and die for it.

I play bass in a four piece cover band that plays regular throughout the year.
We're all from the Vancouver, BC Canada area.
Some of us have done some original projects on the side but have not yet gone into it as much as we like (one day hopefully).
We all work at full time jobs and have families.
We've been together for about 19 years.
Either way, cover tunes or originals are both fun to play!

We have a 4 piece band and play mostly folk-type music (Irish jigs, reels etc). I play guitar andsing, my wife plays fiddle and concertina, my nephew plays bass and bodhran, and we have an Irish Step Dancer who dances hard shoe and soft shoe. She recently started stepdancing to other types of tunes that arent exactly Irish. The dancer also plays the bodhran and some fiddle. We havent written any of our own tunes yet, but someday!!
We play anywhere we can with or without a PA. We own our equipment and I recently bought a Yamaha aw16g so we're working on our first CD. We have a 5 song demo, a website and a press kit.
Our favorite tunes: Nancy Whiskey, As I Roved Out, Danville Girl, Hills of Connemara, Boru's Marches, Black & Tans, Tell Me Ma, and the list goes on and on.
We've been together for about a year and we're very pleased with our progress, too bad the people in this town are hooked on DJ's and Karaoke.

Hey there! I am lead guitarist (only guitarist at the time actually) for a Dallas area party band focused primarily on 80's rock&roll tunes, and we have a slew of jams for everyone's pleasure. We don't mind playing the club scene when available, but we are looking to do more parties, weddings or the occasional bris.
We do covers becuase it is fast and easy. We all have regular day jobs and play for the love of playing. Our drummer is in a band doing mostly originals, but it's hard to find the time to get out there and play originals and get a following happening and everything else that goes with it. Several of us just don't have the time, but we play to play.
We are currently a 4-piece with voicals, guitar, bass and drums, but we are looking into the potential for a keyboard player. We play AC/DC, Van Halen, Prince, Bon Jovi, RATT, ZZ Top and the likes.
Check out our web site at www.electricarmadillos.com, and if you are in the Dallas area, come to a show and introduce yourself!:thu:

Hi, everyone!
I'm the lead 12-string player in The ByrdBrains, a seven-piece group from Portland, Oregon that does Byrds music as well as our own originals that sound suspiciously like the original lineup of The Byrds. My backline is a Dual Showman Reverb with two Dual Showman 2x15 cabs, augmented with a Vox AD100VT. Plugged into this is my '85 Rickenbacker 370-12RM McGuinn Signature going through a Janglebox. It's a lot of gear to haul, but the sound is worth every ounce!
We cover all of the original hits, plus some of the works of the artists who went solo from The Byrds. The band consists of bass, drums, 2 rhythm guitars, a steel player, a mandolin player and myself - all in all, a very full stage and a very full sound.
This band was put together from friends and that remains the cohesive factor. We hope to take this on the road for a year before concentrating solely on originals.
Cheers,
Iain McLennon

Hi I'm Simon and the inaugaral gig of my new band 'Dance or Cry' is coming thick and fast! we've only got the one song at the moment, but we have rehearsed and apart from the singer we've all met each other ina musical setting. I'd describe us as 'alternative rock' I'm just seeing how it goes first before seriously going out to get some gigs. I play guitar and sing when I can!

No "day jobs" just play the blues therefore we always have plenty of the blues to play!

Hey everybody. There are some killer bands here, I'm really happy to post.
I sing and play guitar in the band How To Win At Life. We play groovy, all-original rock that has been described as "new school, but old school."
You can see us and hear us here:

And this is a link to a cool, albeit poorly shot video of us playing live:

Howdy,
I'm in an all-Pink Floyd tribute group called The Surrogate Band. We're based out of Mid-Michigan, and play all over the state as well as several other Midwest venues.
We pride ourselves in having the most authentic recreations of recorded material. Compared to a band like the Australian Pink Floyd show, we just don't have the $$ for the lights, etc. (alhtough we typically do have a decent light and projector screen show) but, IMO we blow them away with detail. We also specialize in more obscure material than the other PF tributess will do. Of course, we still do Dark Side and all of that stuff, but we add in a bit more Syd-era stuff, etc.
I'm kind of the "extra guy" that fills in the gaps. By this I mean that at various times I am called on to play electric, acoustic, 12-string and nylon guitars, lap steel, keyboards, saxophone, and I also trigger sound fx (such as the money intro) and vocal effects (us, us, us... and them, them, them). I'm very busy!
Click on the link below, and go to "media" to see our promo DVD. Let me know what you think!

Hi guys,
My name is Joe Rivera and I sing with a doowop group, Earl Lewis & The Channels. I'm the youngest member in the group at age 43. The group was formed in Harlem in 1956 and featured Earl Lewis on lead vocals. Today in 2006, Earl is still the lead singer and celebrates FIFTY years performing with his Channels.
Before I joined the Channels I had a quartet R&B vocal group patterned after the Temptations, where anyone could sing lead AND the harmony would not be compromised. Before that I played keyboards for an R&B group and when I was in high school, I sang in an acapella group that sang songs by the Teenagers, Cadillacs and....... The Channels. It's come full circle for me.
I've been with Earl Lewis & The Channels since 1995. Past venues have included the Apollo Theater (NYC), Beacon Theater (NYC), Benedum Theater (Pittsburgh, PA), Continental Airlines Arena (E. Rutherford, NJ), Ford Community Performing Arts Center (Dearborn, MI), Keswick Theater (Glenside, PA), Mellon Arena (Pittsburgh, PA), Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT), Radio City Music Hall (NYC), The Theater @Madison Square Garden (NYC), Westbury Music Fair (Westbury, NY) and two PBS Specials; to name a few.

Hello Everyone,
I am a long time reader of HC and have finally finished an album of folky stuff.
I'd been so busy with trying to stay alive for the last 6 years or so that I just recently got the time to finally record some of the stuff I've written.
Anyhow, I've always been kinda reclusive with my music (until now!) because I've never had anything more than dynamic mic acoustic demos, but that has finally changed...so if anyone is up for it, I'd love to find out what it sounds like to someone else.
:)
Cheers,

My band's name is Star City and we're based in beautiful Morgantown, West Virginia. Although we only have two members currently, Seth Gainer (me) on guitar and vocals and Stussy Adams on drums and guitar, we are looking fairly hard at completing the band so we can play out. We'd like to find someone fairly adept at bass, keyboards (including organ - Hammond B3, Fender Rhodes and the like), and if anyone knows a good pedal steel player around our age in the area, please contact me at seth_gainer@yahoo.com.
Anyway, we're a strange mixture of old and new. I'm the old. My influences range from deep Delta blues like Skip James and Muddy Waters and old (good) country like Hank and Johnny to the Stones, CCR, Tom Petty, and even Beck, Funkadelic, and the Clash and more modern bands like the Black Keys and Drive-By Truckers. My taste is pretty wide-ranging. Stussy, on the other hand, is more inclined to the alternative "radio" rock end of the spectrum, like Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eve 6, and Third Eye Blind. The songs we write are totally different, but it works well.
We play a mixture of covers and originals. Check out our first demo at:

Thanks! Here's some paraphrasing from my bio:
I'm an independent self-financed musician, a professional graphic artist, a rabid idealist for and an allroundniceguy™.
In my musical endeavors I employ a combination of elements, techniques and influences that pull inspiration from the past and present yet looks forward to the future. The end result, any of the 4 CD's I've released, is an evocative mix of sometimes disparate musical genre’s and artistic motivation into an invigorating, dramatic whole. One could use the term experimental but I'll take dynamic, progressive and modern for $100 as well, Alex.
My first CD, AMBIENT EARTH, was released in 1996, the VIRTUALITY CD in 2001, the INFERNO CD in 2004, and most recently, my 4th CD, DEEP HORIZON - which has just been released - expands upon my the established musical direction. Take 20 lbs. of heavy guitar-driven rock, a progressive approach to rhythmic meter and song composition, mix with 32 oz. of ambient/trance music, ad a few sprinkles of electronic new age, and a dose of pop music sensibility... shake, stir, and imbibe!)
For all the emphasis placed upon my music/art as a hybrid of styles, ideals and emotions, I try to let my music stand as a personal artistic statement - one that fits different head sizes.
I suppose the comparison to Fates Warning, Rush, Dream Theater, Asia, Journey, Zero Hour and Queensryche, would be apt.
You can peep my creative exploits through the various links below.
Btw, good to know the rest of you cats, as well!

9 to close. I live about 4 blocks away from the C and I.

But other than those things...It's a wonderful life!
As soon as I get out of this Detox I expect to get right back into it cause I know I will make the big time any minute! Yee Ha!!!

Hey All.....I've played in lotsa bands.....some original, some covers....in the process of mixing it all up and having a hard hitting blues/Rock Band with a female singer.... Just started on working on some tunes and getting a website booking etc....looking for a bass player tried a few but haven't found the right fit yet....have a couple more to try in the coming weeks hopefully something fits better than what we've seen so far.....
Band name is SUGAR LIME BLUE...and you can see the beginings of the website here www.sugarlimeblue.com ...its real rough but will give you a quick idea.

We've been together for almost 6 years. My sister is the lead singer and brother-in-law play drums. We play mostly modern rock, Reggae and some acoustic stuff. I play lead and sing about 30% lead vocs. http://www.members.tripod.com/burnttoast1/
