or in the UK - http://www.turnkey.uk.com/megadeals/software.html

You DID mean, "Where can I BUY Cubase, right?" :p

Sorry if I offended. I meant it to be "tongue-in-cheek", as we quite frequently get people asking "where can I get software application x", and what they really mean is, "where can I download it for free?".

I've heard pretty good things about Turnkey in the UK, though. Also, Thomann in Deutschland ist gut. I'm sure there are others.

In the US, 8th Street is good for mail-order.

Are you planning on getting Cubase SX? I've used it a bit on the PC side and I like it. Not as well as Digital Performer or Logic, but it is good.

cheers fellas, i was only jokin' too.

Messing around with reason at the moment but not sure what to go onto?

Had a good look at cubase and it seems pretty user friendly so i'll probably save and get that, but dont really know logic at all. All i've heard about logic is that you cant use cubase vst's with it and i've got tonnes given to me by my friends so i'd like to be able to use those.

also i'm gunna be useing a g3 to work on and i'm not sure about running os x on it, so it will probably be cubase 5.1 but i think this will be plenty good enough, will it?

thanks again, Pride

The new Cubase for OS9 is infamously buggy and full of problems. I use it right now and it's given me so much grief. If freezes and crashes all the time... there are LOTS of issues with Cubase. If they could sort them out it would be a great program... as is it is almost unusable. Just look at their chatform at Cubase.net

5.0 has been stable for me, on a G4/400. basic setup is 32tracks.

Because I have a digital mixer, I tend to use mostly mixer efx, with some outboard gear.

But I've never had ANY crashes during a session.

I have crashed it when I was doing testing of maximum tracks (got to 50tracks before I got bored) and maximum plugins.

No special tweaks or extension sets. Lucky I guess.

Now waiting for SX

I used to use Turnkey when I lived in London as a good friend of mine's brother is one of the directors and got me good deals.. :D

I tend to go to Sound Control now as it seems more like how Turnkey used to be before they moved further into their corporate image.
