Well me and my friend bought this lighting control system that makes the lights do a chase effect and such. Well there is a place to plug in a rope light and we were thinking of putting one around our drummers bass drum or my bass cab. The lights ould do the chase effect with our main par cans. I think it would look cool. Has anyone ever tried something like this?

i doubt you could do a chase effect with the individual bulbs in the rope...
at best, you could plug in separate ropes and chase going one rope at a time.
if you get the shortest rope lights you can find, put them end to end around the bass drum/bass cab, plug them into separate "inputs" on the control system... that might be fun.
am i wayyyy wrong here?

You can get multichannel rope light. I used some recently on an exhibition stand whilst in San Jose' in the states. It was four channels I think and required a powersupply to run it (which chased).
Another way of doing this is with Flexiflash or similar. This is like rubber tubing with many xenon strobes in there. It comes with a controller and you can select simple chases. Strobe I know but it was only for the sake of being a different angle.
