Hey guys, I just wandered over here from the Guitar Effects forum because my brother is interested in DJ equipment. You'll have to pardon my ignorance beacuse I know absolutely nothing about turntables, etc.
He's looking for something that can "DJ" samples from the internet. I don't even know if this possible. What he doesn't want is one of those crappy "MyDM2" craps that makes stupid noises.

how do you "DJ" a sample? I don't understand what you're asking for..
any basic to advanced sampler and the proper cables from radio shack can have your brother sampling anything he wants, including sounds off the net. Most samplers have the options to tweak sounds out to infinity, and since he would obviously be working with the computer, whatever the sampler won't let him do his computer will.
I hope this helps.. There are also several threads in this forum that should help your brother decide what kind of sampler he wants/needs.

I guess my "DJ" I mean "scratch".

if you want to scratch, get turntables, a mixer, and records. period.

The final scratch thing from stanton will do exactly that.

stanton's final scratch is NOT a stand alone unit. You still need turntables and a mixer. It just lets you use your turntables and mixer to mix digital files from your computer exactly the same way you would regular vinyl.

The Final Scratch is exactly what my brother is looking for!
It's even better that he can use it with any turntables + mixer setup!

Just keep in mind you still need the CD players and at least one turntable to use this.

actually no, final scratch doesn't work with cd players. (good luck finding a cd player that can play a record anyway..)
You need 2 turntables, a mixer, and a computer, preferrably a laptop, to use final scratch.

Whoops...Thanks djsynrgy! I was thinking of American DJ's Scratch Box. Well, now that I feel like an ass I'm gonna stop typing...
