My first song!

I finally wrote an original song. What do yall think?

I thought you were my friend
Be together untill the end

I guess I was wrong
Our bond wasn't strong

You were gone
I was alone

We had some good times
we were partners in crime
when you had troubles to share
you knew I'd be there

But when I needed you
What did you do?

Choose your friends carefully
After what you've done to me
You're not the friend that I need

When your friends leave you behind

They'll se they were wrong
It won't take them long
When you needed them
They were gone

Not bad. What kind of music? Country, Rock, Modern???

I suppose it's rock. we've got kinda a distorted folk sound. I don't know how to describe it. Maybe alternative.

Welcome to the process of songwriting. You've got many years ahead of you before you'll write something worth keeping. I look back to when I started 10 years ago and still remember my first song. It was pretty embarrasing but a start.
For a first time, pat yourself on the back. You've finished something most people never will attempt.
In terms of quality, it falls flat on its face. Cliched, forced and trite. Do yourself a favor pick up a copy of Writing Better Lyrics by Patterson. Stick with it, work through the book, memorize its themes and continue writing. You'll get there but not without alot of hard work.
