Using info I got from this site...

But I need help clairifying step 6. I dont know what a yoke is nor do I know what it does. Could someone explain it. Also why is and what is that fogged glass or whatever sitting ontop of the can in step 6?

the yoke attaches the light to a stand. that glass looking stuff is... well... i dont know. maybe a later post will tell.

If you don't have a yoke, then you will have to lie it on the floor which isn't a great idea considering the heat it will produce, even with a 100watt bulb.
The glass will be for diffusing the light to give it a nice and even spread. I would say that getting the correct glass is essential as lots of glass will crack and break easily. If you have this over a band on a truss or a stand, then it could be lethal.

hi,
i have to say please save your self and buy some can. I know there not cheap but go speak to local rental company and ask if they have any old dented bashed ones they want rid of you might get a great bargin.
please dont make one out of a coffee can. V dangerous

I agree. I would consider making them if I was a real pauper. Old cans from theatres 'C' stock would be a reasonable purchase. It's worth phoning hire companies and seeing if they have any worn out hire stock. Most of the time it will be bent but working. Check the prices with new though as some hire companies think about their bank accounts before their customers. I wouldn't trust most of them..
