I know that detunedman has his MP-1 Modded by voodoo amps. There are 2 or 3 more that I read on the amp forum who else had their MP-1s modded by Voodoo amps and all of them said its really good mod.

Good luck,

Thanks Duke! The mod that Trace did on the mp-1 really thickened it up as you can tell by the clips. I got stationed in Korea for a year, and had to leave my gear behind. Which do I miss more..my wife and kids...or my Jackson and mp-1? :D

So the $200 plus mod was definitely worth it? I guess I'm struck between selling my laney halfstack and buying a dedicated power amp and 2x12 or just getting the mod.....

mr hell bites:

My dedicated poweramp will be the mp-1- Rocktron Velocity 300...into a v-30 loaded carvin cab. I may mess with a bbe and/or some eq..and that will be it. I didn't like running the mp-1 into an effects return of any amp I tried..I prefer the actual purpose built poweramps myself.

I think it was worth it, but I didn't try any of the other countless mods out there either. I would like to have a few more mp's to do surgery on....

Well, I just sent off my mp-1 to get the $100 3 tube mod installation and get the filter caps replaced just like trace does...

Your probebly the 5th person I see that uses an MQ-1. I got one too, its a cool eq. What do you use the GEQ-7 for?? isnt that the GE-7?

Also, what modded MP-1s do you have??

yea it is the GE-7, I'll have to cange that, I have parts on order for the 3.1, and 3.666 mods, when income tax gets here I'm gonna contact "the depot" about the 3TM.

And yes I LOVE THE MQ-1........I use the ge-7 for a little mid boost for solos.

Holy crap, that is a nice rig.
So you actually have a 3 tube Mp-1?

I'm thinking of picking up a BBE 362 at the local guitar shop, it's only $25.

I got the 3 Tube mainly on the basis that it was cheap, the sound clips were awesome, and the tech who does it was really nice. In your opinion, is it a worthwhile mod? How does it compare with the other mods?

Sorry to badger you with the questions.

You cant really compare it to any of the other mods. I mean, its just different, with the extra tube, the tone, gain and sound changes. But this time, change is good :D.

Also, believe it or not, due to the use of very high quility components on the tube board, the noise is reduced big time.

There is lots of gain, but what ever gain addition there is, it is useful gain, so even if you max both gains on 10 (which you wont need to), it will keep its definition and clarity.

Good luck,
Duke

Cool. Heh, I still paid for the extra noise mod from HB, he said it is always a good idea. I don't care to much I just want it to keep the hotrodded marshall sound and be a little more tight in the bass department.
I listened to Satriani's song Circles and compared it with Chucky's rendition with his 3TBM and Chucky sounded as good if not better.

Not sure if you noticed, but actully on the 3Tube Board it self, it has 2 trimpots that you can adjust to your likeing. They adjust the amount of the Low End/Mids & Highs.

so you not only get to adjust the eq from the front panel, but you can also adjust those 3 frequencies from the tube board. Which helps to have more control over the sound.

Here is a pic, look beside the first tube socket:

Thanx for the nice review Hell Bites!cool: I wouldn't go as far as saying that I sound better than Satch himself, but my clip was in a way somekind of a tribute to his awesome playing and writing. The 3TM offered on the ADAdepot site is quite outstanding...and cheap for what it is! It kills any Voodoo mod or whatever's out there as far as modding an MP-1 from ADA.:D:D :D

Cool! Welcome to Harmony Central, but be prepared to see lots and lots of off topic stuff. Anyway, I'm a bit anxious, I ordered it and it's at my house but I'm at college, I won't get to play it till Spring Break :(

I don't suppose you have a tab for Circles? I looked everywhere and can't find one for the solo.
