i want to spin stuff like paul oakenfold, the chemical brothers, digweed, and possibly some orbital. Can anyone recomend some records, record labels, specific genres i should look at to get this kind of sound? And, can anyone tell me what their mixing style is like? i want as many suggestions as possible, so dont be shy.

thanks in advance,

Go to local record shop, ask them this question and they will pull some records for you. Or just listen to them yourself, look in the progressive house/progressive trance section.

I'm still having trouble believing the guy is serious. you want stuff that sounds like oakenfold/chemical bros/digweed... 3 completely different styles and sounds going on there for starters, all of which happen to be very commercial, and all of which also happen to make their own records, so it seems like a no brainer: you want that sound, buy their records. duh.

for the record, Oakenfold has his own label: Perfecto

Digweed also shares a label: Bedrock

Not sure about the Chemical brothers.. I like them live, but not a fan of most of their tunes, save 'it began in africa'... I think they sign tracks to various labels, but I could easily be wrong, as I said, I don't really know.

having been a Digweed fan for years i'd say try www.3beat.co.uk. May I also add that that music is dying a death and is slowly focring its way up it's own ass. Try a Producer/DJ by the name of Thomas Brinkmann, absolute genius Techno, totally recommended although I do appreciate the skill involved in what John Digweed and Sasha do but it's fading away because it has ran out of originality and energy, it's starting to get dull and monotonous where other styles of dance music are evolving all the time. As for Paul Oakenfold, you're lucky i've answered your post as i'd usually disregard anyone asking about him as he's a total wanker and shite shill, stay away from him, he's a fake. chemical brothers - mmm, iffy, some good music but could do a lot better if they put their mind to the skill they have - they're like leftfield with less passion.
