Hi - new to both the forum and racks :-)

Running into a problem setting up my GCP in 'instant access' or 'stompbox' mode -

The GCP is in '4 presets per bank' mode with buttons 1-8 setup to send CC changes to my G-Major. [The 4 preset buttons are changing programs on the preamp and sending nothing to the G-Major ie program change set to '--'].

What I'm trying to do is use buttons 1-8 to turn effect blocks on/off on a single preset on the G-Major.

The instant access buttons all work OK until I use one of the 4 preset buttons - at this point any of the instant access buttons that are on go out.

With the buttons set to 'normal' effects on the G-Major are not changed [but the lights on the GCP no longer reflect the active settings], and with the buttons set to 'xmit w/preset' the effects go off on the G-Major - which implies that the buttons are transmitting an 'off'.

Looks like the instant access buttons all get turned off when one of the 4 presets is hit, but that kind of defeats the purpose of 'stompbox' mode, so I'm hoping I've made a setup error somewhere here...

Any suggestions from anyone using this setup?

Thanks in advance!

John

Each preset needs to be saved with the direct access switches in their proper on/off state. The instant access switches are part of the presets, not true stompbox style. When you recall a preset the pre saved combination will be brought up, the switch status that you were on in the last preset will not remain.

Thanks for the reply.

OK, so what I'm trying to do isn't going to work then :-(

I was kinda expecting the 'xmit w/preset' option to send the on/off status of the button at the time of the preset change, rather than recall the status and then send it...

...back to the drawing board...

I would have to look at the manual again, but I don't think there is a way to have the direct access switches act independent of the presets (ie. preset changes don't affect the direct access switch status). I have an RS10 also and it works the same way, the direct access switches are part of the presets.

I'm having the same problem and I wish there was some way this would work the way you are saying. Any suggestions?

If I remember right, the XMITW/PRESET way would only work if you have a second MIDI cable coming back into the Pedal

But then you're relying on the G-Major for the On/Off status.

Unfortunatly, you can't have truely independant control of the CC's and PC's.

You'll have to do like what pbhtrip said and program each preset on the pedal to match the status of the CC's.

It sounds tedious, but once you've got it running, you don't have to mess w/ it after that and then you can pretend like they're independant of each other.

The best information I found on this was on TCE's website -

http://tcsupport.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/tcsupport.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=964&&p_sid=neQgcJZg&p_lva=370&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTk5J nBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9MyZwX3Byb2R fbHZsMT0xJnBfcHJvZF9sdmwyPTExJnBfY2F0X2x2bDE9fmFue X4mcF9jYXRfbHZsMj1_YW55fiZwX3NjZl9mYXFzKmFjY2Vzc19 pZD0xJnBfc29ydF9ieT1kZmx0JnBfcGFnZT0y&p_li=

If that URL doesn't make it through then go to tcelectronic.com -> support and use the interactive system to find answers for the g-major. The item is titled 'How to setup the DMC Ground Control Pro to match effect block status'

This didn't really help me because I was trying to use the PCs to change amp settings and the CCs for effects, so I didn't know in advance what the effects settings were going to be be for each PC...Only way to do this was to have a PC for each possible combination of effects so far as I could see, but that kind of defeated the purpose of what I was trying to do...

Hope the above helps your situation though :-)

Cheers
