Hey there. I'd like to get some feedback on what audio interface would be best for what I want to do. The easiest way to explain the mission is to give you the scenario, so here goes:

I'll have a group of players (~4, possibly guitar, wind, bass, keys) that I want to sample realtime onto a computer and use that computer to do real time effects, sequencing, etc etc, and then output the sound to amps, monitors, etc as part of a live performance.

I'd need a freq. resp. starting at at most 7Hz (will be using low frequencies for added effect), and it would be nice to have MIDI in/out on the card to save me from buying a MIDI interface. Also, some onboard DSP hardware to aid in the processing would be nice.

The Aardvark 24/96 has everything I need and even 4 XLR inputs with preamps (anyone know what the quality on the pre's are like?). It also has onboard DSP processing for mixing giving low latency monitoring. But the price tag on this unit is around $500.

Does anyone know of a card that would fit these needs but be a better (perhaps lesss costly) solution?

Thanks!

four bus mixer and a p.c. w/4ins and outs and a multi effects processor is what you need.

you record audio out to the p.c. through the mixer at the same time sending the individual signals to an outboard effects processor with 4 ins/outs. something like an ensoniq dp/4 or digitech studio 800.

7HZ..!!!! are you sure??

I doubt you will be using 7hz at all unless you have some pretty amazing speakers.. You'll kill everyone if it's loud enough... and that's if you can find something to produce a 7hz frequency.

I think there is something weird about 7hz. I'm sure they were trying to experiment with it as a weapon... ... ... seriously...

Yes, I believe it is the frequency at which, given it is sufficiently loud, damage to ones internal organs starts occurring...

The MAudio Omni Studio would be a good choice, as well.
