I was looking into getting a volume pedal myself and it appears that the vast majority of players use the ernie ball.
General consensus seems to be that it is the best out there.
All the ones I have ever really seen or played through were cheapos.
I was just curious if there were any other recomendations for other high quality volume pedals, and of course the Pros and Cons. Thanks

And yes I know this is a pedal question but I wanted to get the viewpoint of my fellow rackheads. ;)

The Boss FV300L and FV300H are good pedals. The L is for after the preamp/line level applications and the H is for before the preamp/hi-impedence applications.

Hows the sound on those pedals?
The things im looking for are the least amount of tone suckage possible (obviously) and very smooth and even volume adjustment. A minimum volume knob would be nice though.

Other than the EB, this is the other heavy duty one that is seen around. http://www.rolandus.com/products/details.asp?catid=1&subcatid=4&prodid=FV%2D300L
Be aware that it's low impedance and won't work well connected directly to your guitar. Also it has a knob for setting the max level at the top of the pedal sweep.
Real rack gurus would use an expression pedal to sweep a VCA to remotely control volumes back at the rack! No audio in the long path to the pedalboard.

There is a minimal amount of tone suckage (if any) with the Boss pedal.

I have and love the Ernie Ball pedals. No tone loss or added noise whatsoever. There are other pedals out there that are just as good or even better. It really depends on how much you want to spend. I also really like the goodrich volume pedals. You can find some on ebay from time to time. I hate the Boss pedals they are very cheaply made and have no steady feel to them when you are using it. They are very clickety clak feeling (if that makes any sense). I had the EV 5 and it was a real POS.
