Integrated Digital Audio

Hello everybody. Been reading for a long time but never registered until now. On to my question. My computer is a gateway running XP with soundmax integrated digital audio on the motherboard. Will this support cakewalk's home studio 2002 and while I am here I am thinking about running a mic through an ART tube mp opl, bringing the input down to 1/8" and plugging it into the back of my computer in the mic input. Will this work? I am just starting and looking for something to play around with I will upgrade in time.

Jrod,

That setup should work fine for starters. But you neet to plug the output from the Art mp to the "line in" instead of the "mic in" of your sound card.

Your right to use the equipment you have first just to see what is involved in DAW recording. Meanwhile you should read up on some of the audio interfaces available. Once you get things figured out more you'll probably want to get something better.
