Hi there,

I was hoping you could help me out a bit ... I'm a singer/songwriter looking for a as-good-sounding-as-I-can-get-for-$2,000 used PA for my 4-piece band, and I came across an ad for the following equipment. All is used and in excellent condition, and the seller is accepting best offer for the individual items. I'm still really new to all this, and am looking for some help on if any of this stuff is worth my time, and if so, what a decent offer would be for those items.

Thanks!

SL

How much is the Allen and Heath SR 424 going for?

I am looking at picking one up for $700 used. Its really heavy though, that is why the guy is selling it

$2K for all that stuff would be a smokin deal... but you'll need a truck to haul it all around.

Model numbers on the cabs would help some... but here's a stab at some fair market values:

1) 2 JBL single scoop bass speakers, long throw ¡V1 speaker 300 watts/8 ohms in each

If the cabinets are genuine JBL 4530's, the cabs are worth $50 - $100 ea. depending on condition. E-145's are rated at 300wcp... those are worth about $125 ea. in good condition. Stock drivers for 4530's were E-140's which are rated at 400wcp... so who knows what you have? If the cabinets themselves are not JBL, then the cabinet is virtually valueless, and the worth is based on the driver.

2) 2 JBL double scoop bass speakers, long throw ¡V2-2225H speakers in each-300 watts-8 ohms each speaker

If the cabinets are genuine JBL 4520's, the cabinets are again worth about $50 to $100 ea. depending on condition. JBL 4520's were origionally loaded with E-140's as well. Good 2225H cones are worth about $100 ea.

3) 4 Goodhorn midrange speakers ¡V175 watts/8 ohms

Single horn load 12's? Possibly EV 12L's? If so, the drivers are worth about $75 ea. The cabinets probably don't have much value beyond "something to hold a speaker".

4) 2 JBL highs, 2380 horn, 2445 driver-100 watts/16 ohms

The driver and horn flair is worth $250 - $300. Hopefully they're loaded in boxes or clamshells?

5) 2 PAS high horns

Hard to tell without model numbers.

6) 2 McCauley monitors- 2 way 300 watts? (not sure)

Again, hard to tell without model numbers, but if they function, they're worth $100 - $200 ea. 600 series range in used value from $300 to $500+ depending on the model.

7) 3 Peavey 1245 monitors-12¡¨ speaker, 150 watts/8 ohms

About $100 ea. $150 if the 1245M model.

8) QSC EX 4000 power amp-720 watts/8 ohms per channel

Great amp, worth about $600... and is A LOT of amp... tap her lightly there pard.

9) QSC MX 2000 power amp-375 watts/8 ohms per channel

Good ole work-horse, worth about $500

10) QSC MX 1500 power amp-350 watts/8 ohms per channel

Another gool ole work-horse, worth about $300

11) 2 QSC 1400 power amps-200 watts/8 ohms dual channel

Good amps too, worth about $400 ea.

12) ART FX unit

$50 to $250 depending on the model

13) Allen & Heath SR-424 24 x 4 mixing board

About $225 to $300 depending on condition and case.

Only $225 to $300 for a SR424 with case. Why so cheap? Are these considered good boards? I currently have an allen and head mixwiz 16:2DX

That is what the professional appraisers at Orion have set it's used value at in 2003. The appraisals are based in-part on what the reported street values of equipment are (documented transactions between willing sellers and willing buyers). Beyond that, I don't know why they're worth what they're worth.

If you got that system for $2k, you'd be getting a hell of a deal. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it will help me talk the guy down from $700. I am a bit worried about the noise compared to newer boards though.
