We've added 2 rock anthems to our band, Stairway and Dream On, and they've gone pretty well. Fun to play too. What else falls into this category? Something that guitar/bass/drums can pull off with a good singer, no background vocals?

They list Mony Mony as a Billy Idol
don't get me wrong, I'm cool mit der Idol
(well, except maybe for him at "the bridge school" concert s a few years ago...he did an acoustic act with Steve Stevens and they tore it up and all, but the pelvic gyrations at the kids in wheelchairs was maybe a bit ...and I mean hey, I'm a kinky Bastard ....freaky)
but it ain't an Idol tune
sides - I'd put Crimson& Clover in there instead

Locomotive Breath... screw the keyboard intro just go right into it and play a guitar solo where the flute solo was. back in the earlier days of our band we used to medley Courdory by Pearl Jam into Locomotive breath. :thu:

Takes a little bit of imagination, but a more rockin version of Hey Jude would be pretty awesome.

Per my request, no backgound vocals, and Guitar Bass and Drums. That leaves most of those out. Also, 1 guitar Hotel California's I've looked at on youtube sucked. Don't know if we could pull it off with 1 guitar.

We're playing it tomorrow night - granted a really fast version with a Zydeco feel - I'll let everyone know how it goes.

One of my favorite songs to play with my current band.
Except we do the keys intro, make it all dramatic... crowds eat it up.

we used to do the whole build up thing many years ago. then we did a 2 song medley with Courdory and chopped the open of Loco right off. we used to play courdory to rightbefore that slower outro part and then into locomotive breath. it was fun but we put them to bed awhile ago. maybe we'll pull em out for bike nights in the summer.
back to the OP: we're not gonna take it is a great rock anthem (cheezy yes but so what)

Green Grass And High Tide by the Outlaws, instead of Freebird, just ignore the back vox, they did, live.

I agree with Jeff42 - Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It.
Stupidly simple song. You can play it in your sleep. You'll end up hating your radio every time you hear it. Your crew will give you shit for playing it. But it packs the dance floor
every
single
time!
