Electro-Harmonix Effectology, Vol.6 "Mellotron Sounds"

I have been in love with the sound of the vintage Mellotron keyboard from the first day I heard one.
I have tried very hard to capture just a tiny bit of its magic using my guitar and effect pedals.
Below are a few sounds that remind me a lot of this great instrument using just my guitar, the POG2 and other EHX effect pedals.

If you do not own the pedals I used, please experiment with similar pedals you have in your collection.

Bill, that's terrific!

I was working with my VG99 trying to get a fake Mellotron type sound and
worked and worked and got some pretty evocative sounds.

Here's my fake vg99 mellotron:

Enjoy!

A great solution for mellotron sounds is gmedia's M-Tron and M-tron pro. Both contain libraries of many original tapes collected from various sources. Very cool and inexpensive solution and its not an emulation, its the actual source sounds.

ASB, sounds great. You got it.

Thanks for the tip germanicus2112.
I know how you feel about it.
I personally do not trigger.

The point of this exercise was to show sounds reminiscent of the Mellotron could be produced with a regular guitar, a regular pickup and a plain old 1/4 cable.

It is my hope to get the "regular" guitar player excited about the possibilities with in his or her's instrument with out having to triggering a sound source produced by someone else.

This quest leads to experimentation which could opens new doors that may have never been opened.

Thanks again.

The nice thing about doing this with standard effects pedals is that you then don't have to subject a computer to the environment of a gig - hot stage lights, contaminants in the environment, potential for damage.

Next up, my ocean liner sound!
