Hard Truth

Apparently a virus or spyware changed my Internet Explorer bookmarks, directing me to a bogus version of my bank's website. From there a classic fishing technique was used when I had trouble logging in. I was suckered into giving up my SS number and ATM pin. Fortunately for me, the bank already was aware of previous hacking attempts and I also called them within a few minutes of the security lapse. So my bank account is safe, but now I may face hassles from people using my social security number and other info to get credit cards.
The lessons:
1. Don't trust your bookmarks to direct you to a website where you do financial transactions. Enter the URL manually.
2. I don't know if this site was responsible, but there have been a few posts linking to questionable websites. I would avoid clicking on links from users of this site with low post counts.
