I'm referring specifically to the years 1965-1967 - the bound neck, sometimes block inlayed ones.

The going price for these doesn't seem high enough to attract attention from counterfeiters.

man jaguars were getting faked back in the 60's, seems like les pauls are the favorites to date, especially the zakk wylde model.
but yes jaguars have been faked(see service mans model) jazzmasters too I think all major brands have been faked. I've even unknowingly bought a fake sm57 from guitar center used.
apparently even counterfeits slip into stores apparently.

Almost any guitar can be faked. I just bought what I thought were going to be genuine vintage guitars on TradeTang, the Chinese equivalent of e-bay and boy was I surprised. (go to tradetang.com > musical instruments > guitars > type in "Mosrite" in the search column > locate the genuine Ventures model with "Mosrite of California" on the headstock). This site is hosted by wanglaoj117 and also shows a Rickenbacker 370-12 at the bottom od the Mosrite ad. Based on the printed description and photos of American made instruments and a guarantee that "What you see in picture is what you get" confirmation, I ordered one of each. What actually was received were 2 counterfeit "RIC's" made by angry Mongols in the Gobi Desert. This substitution came without warning especially after being assured that I would be receiving what is shown in the pictures. Evidently the words bait-and-switch do not translate into Chinese nor does the word consumer protection.
There are counterfeits of almost every manufacturer on this site. Buyer beware - be very aware and stay away fromTradeTang. If you go ahead anyway and buy one, then go to resell these, you may be hit by a copyright infringement lawsuit by the U.S. manufacturer. they monitor e-bay. Just remember I warned you if you go there.
