I thought someone would like to know that Roland's development of 64-bit GI-20 drivers is a bit uncertain, and if it effects you, please submit a support ticket and let them know you want a 64bit driver. It's simply unacceptable for a device currently being sold not to have all the relevant drivers available.

Are there 64-bit drivers in the works for Vista and Windows 7? I'm purchasing a Thinkpad with 64-bit Vista, upgrading to 7 as soon as it's released. I of course would love to use my brand new GI-20 with it!

Thank you,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

We have sent a request for 64 bit VISTA / Windows 7 drivers to our corporate Roland/BOSS/Edirol headquarters in Japan.
At this time, we do not have any information regarding when, or if, they plan to release them for the GI-20.

Sincerely,
Roland Product Support

Here's a thread over at the vguitarforums showing that sometimes in the case of a large corporation like Roland that the left hand doesn't always know what the right is doing...

The VG99 doesn't have a 64-bit driver for Vista or Windows 7 but a user
at vguitarforum, mesaman, found an Edirol driver that would make
the VG99 work on Vista 64 and Windows 7.

You might have similar success if you experiment.

Check out this thread, it also details efforts to get Roland to create official
64-bit drivers for a variety of their products:

I get the feeling that Roland's recent push to release multiple products
at once in September is what is occupying their attention.

Cool, I'll check that out! Thanks. Hopefully if they get enough people bugging them, they'll do something. I didn't realize the 99 isn't 64bit supported. That's even newer than the GI-20.

Add 64 bit OSX Snow Leopard Drivers to the wish list!
