Hi,
i am going to build a DAW to record mostly audio tracks and i was wondering about the motherboards that come standard with the sound card and a videocard already on it.
I will buy a Delta 44 as my recording soundcard and stick with the internal soundcard.
My question is : Will that kind of motherboard be ok for what i want to do ?
It is so much chaeper to buy an already built system this is why i am considering this option
Thanks
I read your post and think :::Brrrr::: if you buy a delta 44 then what on earth could you possibly want to use a built in soundcard for?
I can't think of a single function such a horrid card would have that a delta 44 can't do for you.

You will not want to use theinternal sound card for doing an "AUDIO" based DAW. You will have problems from day one.
First, the ability to monitor on several tracks without latency is a concern, and using internal sound doesn't allow this to happen very well. Usually, sample rates, etc. are far superior on outboard devices such as the Delta you speak of. So in your case, its a matter of understanding how it all works and you won't use the internal sound with the Delta.
On board video can also be a problem due to the need to share memory and limited speed. Usually, when doing a recording and using internal on-motherboard video, when you move the mouse, or change windows, audio glitches will occur.
The only board I'd recommend for the use of Audio w/onboard video would be those using the N'Force chipset such as
MSI K7N420 PRO (MS-6373 6373-020) nForce - $123.00 ASUS A7N266/PA NVIDIA nFORCE 420 CHIPSET ULTRA ATA100 - $139.00
see Nforce-Yes (http://www.digitalnaturalsound.com/logic_dsp/msg/702.html)
However, I want to make clear that you are still better off using a seperate 4xAGP card such as the Matrox G550, which is very compatible and not too expensive. The plus is, that as technology changes, say tommorrow, you can change with it.
Consider a good basic pachage, like
Intel Pentium 4 1.6A GHz 512K Socket 478 $129
Cooler P4 - ZALMAN CNPS-6500A ALCU (http://www.zalmantech.com/CNPS-6500AALCU.htm) - $46.00
Intel P4 Motherboard D845GBV - 845G chipset $125
MATROX G450 32MB DDR 4X AGP - OEM $79
Mushkin 512 DDR CAS 2-2-2 (http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mushkin.filereader?3ce7ca141bf7b9b62740c0a8010206a 5+EN/products/990892) $199
Windows XP Pro - OEM $140
M-Audio Omni Studio (http://www.zzounds.com/love.music?p=p.MDOOMNISTU&z=1379155329241) $430
