Based solely on this photo, what make and model do you think this guitar is?

Epiphone Les Paul Special with a bolt-on neck, one humbucker, volume and tone controls. They cost about $99 brand new.

I just couldn't tell if it was an Epi (which it certainly looks like) or an older Gibby that I wasn't familiar with. The ad identifies it as a Gibson all the way through, no mention of the "E" word ANYWHERE. As I recall, they're asking $200 for it- great deal for a Gibson, terrible deal for an Epiphone.

My Epi Paul came with Gibson engraved on the truss rod cover. I think they do that on all of them.

Yeah, I see that ALL the time on CL and Ebay. They're just putting the word "Gibson" in the title for more search hits.

Yeah, I see that, too. They just usually clarify it's an Epi in the body, which this ad never did. Thanks for the insight!

Do they call the Marshall a JCM too?
Certainly looks like a Jr to me, although the pickup is different:

A friend of mine had the Epi LP Jr in the Craigslist ad, it was a piece of shit. Stay away.
