I bought an SM57 for $60 from tarastore1 on ebay. I thought it was a decent price, and legitimate as she has 100% feedback and I've gotten these mics cheaply before (real ones). I got the mic and the wires on the inside fell out and the red sticker was missing. It's even a lot lighter than the real ones. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER. Ebay flagged a lot of her auctions and took them down, but did not kick her off the site. I just want to make sure no one else falls for this. Watch out if you're in the market for these auctions:mad:
She sells in multiple the following listings:
New in Box Sennheiser PX 100 Collapsible Headphones
SM57 Cardioid Dynamic Microphone - New in Box
New in Box Sennheiser CX 500 Earbuds/Earphones (Black)

yeah you have to buy from a auth dealer. about 80% to 90% of all branded merchandise on eBay is fake so know your stuff p.s. i can prove it if you don't believe me.

I got stung with a fake SM57 a couple of years ago. Seriously don't buy an SM57 from anywhere but a reputable dealer. I'm cautious about buying a lot of stuff from eBay now.
I managed to get my cash back but the seller pumped me full of BS until I proved myself to him that I knew what I was talking about.

That's why I don't buy "new" gear on ebay. Chances are that you are likely to get screwed. I'd rather pay the extra $20, get it from Sam Ash, and have a place to drive it back to if it fails to meet expectations.
I have bought guitars on Ebay, and so far, haven't been ripped off.

I've sold several Shure mics on ebay, although I always get my Shure from reputable wholesalers, such as Kaman or Hanser. I'd say if you are buying from a mom and pop dealer with good feedback you'd probably be ok, but you definitely have to watch it. A big part of the problem is that a lot of the fakes are apparently so good now that they can even fool an honest retailer, so the retailer could actually buy them and not realize they got counterfeit product. It's definitely an issue, although I don't know if I agree with the above poster who says fakes are as high as 80-90%....maybe in clothing, but I doubt in musical stuff.

Of course not. Ebay loves dropshippers who sell cheap and counterfeit Chinese garbage. It's their bread and butter.

I've bought sm58 set ( $ 97) came in big exclusive packaging from someone locally...then i checked on most keyword on this item, all link me to this chinese made stuff, it shown the exact same logo. Then Im relieved. I was thinking they're not crazy enough to fake the logo as well..I just know a couple days after that these are the fake one from one of my friends and he showed the original which cost him ten times what i've paid. I wonder why people from SHURE dont act on this. I mean...on many sites the seller dont mention it it's fake or replica, no clues..so I thought it was made under licensed..like many other big brands who already made their product lines in china.
These are not clothing or shoes we talked about..its electrical musical piece..I get what i've paid for:(
