I'm interested in spinning some records...right now I produce my own shit on some groove gear, but I'd like to spin...now since I spent all my money on different synths, keyboards, software and samplers, I'm pretty broke. basiclly, what I'd like to do is buy a couple of those little CD players, and just burn my own tracks onto CD, and use other cooler tracks as well. I don't think I wasnt to play big parties, jsut a few private ones here and there and amuse myself.

now for the questions...
with CD players, do you have as much control as you do with vinyl?(pitch, slow down, speed up etc)
I know I cant scratch, thats cool though
I'd like to use vinyl, but any idea how expensive it is to cut your own shit onto vinyl?, and new crazy house beats are pretty expensive as well, and so is the maintenance...

thanks in advance...

thanks for your reply...

I don't think I want to get any of my tracks pressed to vinyl...I don't event have tables right now, but these CD players that you talk about, can you give me some suggestions? I want the same amount of control as vinyl, but I don't have to scratch, mabye down the road, I'll want to buy some real tables, but I'd really like to be able to spin my own shit. I know I won't look as cool with CD's, but that ok. Ive seen some rack style CD players, but I think I like the tabletop ones.

so, can this setup do everything you can with vinyl, except scratch? The mixer probably sucks though

any mixers out there with MIDI i/o? My samplers got some ripping effects on it, I'd love to use them.

Yeah you'd definitley want to swap that mixer out. I've never seen a mixer with MIDI connections, but I'm sure they exist.

I'm sorry for being such an idiot, but are the decks something along the lines of what I'm looking for?

I've heard of a light system that is MIDI compatable,
ex. on your synth, program the kick to a MIDI channel the same as that which runs the lights...does this actually exist?

"decks" usually refers to turntables ot cd-players. As far as the light controlled MIDI interface, I'm not sure what you're refering to. Let me know what you're looking to spend and I'll recommend some gear that will fit your needs.

I play guitar in a funk band, but I also use my sampler here and there, I thought if I could control lights and stuff with midi, that would be unbelievable.

as far as money goes, I'd like to spend no mor that 400...
