This little box is portable and sounds pretty decent. I'm not familiar with the Cube 60, so I don't know if the JC-120 shares tone controls with the 2nd channel with all the amp models...

What's very cool though is that the SOLO button can memorize all the settings of an a channel setup, so it's like a third channel with it's own effects and tone controls.

I have the little brother the 20X, and they are fantastic little practice amps. I am sure the 80x is probably more for gigs, and larger venues, but you really cant go wrong with any of the Roland SS amps in the last few years.

As far as it being the same as the JC-120, I very seriously doubt it, as the JC-120 is a different type of amp, for a different purpose. It is probably modeled after the JC-120, like my little cube is.

They are also awesome amps if you use a lot of effects, as they dont color the sound as much as many of the amps out there.

I must not have been clear - what I meant was "so I don't know if the JC-120 CHANNEL shares tone controls with the 2nd channel (the channel with all the amp models...)"

The 80X Cube should be a winner, extra power a 12" speaker, bells and whistles, portable. I've only heard the 20X so far and thought it had a great sound .

they're pretty solid amps honestly, but are usually viewed as practice/ small jam amps more so than amps to gig with.

If that's the general consensus, I don't see the need for an 80 watt.

i'm not trying to start a fight here, just an observation.
