Yes, in ten days NAMM will once again invade Anaheim's convention center. Although a lot of people are wondering what the vibe is going to be like due to the economy, my predictions are:
1. There will not be fewer attendees, and there might be a modest increase. Part of this will be due to companies not wanting to deal with Euros and airfares, and therefore picking to go to NAMM over Frankfurt.
2. Swag will be minimal - maybe a T-shirt here and there.
3. Don't expect a lot of new products from the big guys, but expect lots of cool interesting little thingies from small companies.
4. Hall E will be getting a lot of buzz.
5. More companies than ever will have booths will also have hotel suites for the press and selected dealers.
6. And we must have some moderator spam: The big hits of the show will be my new "book" (actually, it's a DVD), "21st Century Guitarist" and my new expansion pack for Rapture, "Craig Anderton's Electronic Guitars."
7. Far fewer scantily-clad "decoration females" on Saturday. They'll be too tired from doing CES.

Though I believe a fair number of my guitar designs being built by Bennett-Maxfield music may be represented there, I will not be attending this winter's NAMM show (again!).

Luckily, no one really HAS to attend NAMM any more. They can just follow the HC coverage and check out the videos :thu:

If that's true, where do I sign up for the swag?

We just shipped our booth out yesterday. Pretty hectic to say the least gettting it all together.
We'll be showing a couple of cool new things...
I'm really excited that Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and David "Fingers" Haynes will be playing in our booth on Friday and Saturday at 2pm.
Stop by our booth - Hall A #6330.

Roland has some new V-thingie they're announcing at a press conference on Wednesday, before the show. As long as my plane isn't delayed I'll be able to cover it. Don't know what it is, but their V-series products are usually pretty big deals.

Something about that guitar makes me feel all warm n' wiggly. I should venture away from the tardfest known as the Amps forum more often.

Yay! I hear that Daisy Rock...girl guitar company has multiple new guitars to show. I'm totally thrilled (ok so im biased hehe) but I'm glad to see what I believe a definite increase in female guitarists....so much so that they are putting out new products. Its a terrific sign and I dont think the economy will have a huge impact. I mean, hobbies stay with us ...we need our hobbies...*cough shredding metal* no matter the cost. I only wish I could attend NAMM 2009. Me and my husband both would love to go and see all the excitement. Guess I'll have to wait for coverage. Dont let us down Harmony! Make sure you cover some Daisy Rock for me!

Anybody have a sense if Apogee will introduce a new mid-size interface unit to fit between their Duet and Ensemble units? I'd give it four inputs and call it the "Quartet".
Anyway . . . I am hoping they do as it would fit my needs perfectly.
Think they might?

I can't afford to go myself this year, but I will have a new model guitar there (for the first time) at the Hipshot booth... It's the engineering model of the new RockBeach CB-II. I have a few tweaks to do on the design yet, but you can put your hands on the first one if you drop by and say "Hi" to Dave and Jason and tell them Boggs from RockBeach sent ya...

My mistake...looks like only two of my guitar designs will be there, a JBD-100 and an M80.

there's a rumour going that Boss might release 4 new compact series pedals, these could either be COSM pedals or reissues of the first compact series, such as the SG-1 Slow Gear
