I've got a 2000 model CU24 with the old style(winged, non locking) tuners with trem.
Current strings are still fairly new and are Daddario EXL125's..the in-between 9's and 10's set.
Anyhoo I do use the trem some but not aggressively which is the biggest issue and yet even under regular playing it falls a little out of tune.
Nothing drastic but out of tune is out of tune so...
I just can't figure it out. There has to be some trick I'm missing. Other than this the guitar plays and sounds superb.
Any knowledgeable advice?

I have one that is the same way. It never goes far out of tune, even with heavy trem use, but it always just goes ever so slightly out even under just regular playing.
Sorry, I can't help, but I'm also interested in hearing what others have to say.

I found an article in the support section of the PRS website concerning tuning a trem PRS with the winged locking tuners.
Part of the procedure I tried that I hadn't before was to grab the strings just below the nut and pull up/stretch the strings while pushing hard on the flat side of the wings.
After I did this I had to re tune a few times but noticed a big difference in tuning stability.
Something of interest...I have used 9's for years but have recently changed to the set that has heavier bottoms(E,A,D about the same gauge as 10's) and light tops (G,B,e the gauge of 9's). The heavier bottoms stay much closer to correct pitch than the top. Also, the 3rd string is my biggest tuning issue for whatever reason:mad:
I believe I'll change to 10's with a wound 3rd next time around. Using ALL the procedure listed on the PRS Site (http://prsguitars.com/csc/tuners.html) will hopefully fix any and all issues I've got left.

I pull my strings tight with pliers as I engage the wings. I usually don't have to retune more than once/day.

I usually use a glove and wrap the string around my hand. In the past I'd use a small screwdriver and wrap the string around that and pull the string tight.
Question: what string gauge do you use? I just bought some 10's with a wound third but it will be a bit before I change strings again as my last restring was fairly recent.
Thanks for the tip though. I'll try the pliers next time:thu:
