I really liked the Fender 70s Jazz Bass. Bought one in three-color sunburst... Really liked the build quality, the "vintage" move of the bridge pick-up toward the bridge. And the pick-ups are pretty good, too.

My only suggestion for improvement--which, of course, wouldn't be "vintage," would be for Fender to add the Badass II. Or even their new "high-mass bridge." But, of course, that would go against the vintage point.

The Jaguar bass also looks pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to try one out.

Rickenbacker 4003. I ordered it back in 2006, it still isn't here. So, I'm hoping it will be my pick for Best Gear Released in 2009!

Which bass? I'm looking for something decent to record with.
Thanks!

I liked the Squier Vintage Modified 71 Telecaster Bass. Had the big beefy Fender humbucker in the neck. My brother bought one.

The 60s Jazz Bass was awesome, had brass barrel saddles, was a great player.

Most of the new Squier series is pretty damn great, and I know its been said, but thats great for a sub 300 price range.

The 60s Jazz Bass - I agree this one has a really great tone to it, I got mine last year and it's addictive. travel currency (http://www.whichwaytopay.com/compare-travel-money-summary.asp)
