I used to play in this rehearsal hall with Nick and Sphincter Jim. This really fat
guy I'll call Keith (thats his name) who was lord and master of all bullshit artists would play sometimes and bring his PRS. I asked Keith if I could try
it, and he said no. Can't say my feelings were hurt. Keith sucked on a good day. I'm left handed. PRS doesn't make left handed guitars. F**K 'em anyway.
CNC machined crap.
I'll argue......
1) They're far from crap
2) Although they use some CNC, there is still a tremendous amount of handcrafting involved.
3) Most guitar companies use CNC machines in their processes.
4) You probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference of CNC machining vs. non CNC crafting.
5) PRS does make left handed guitars.
6) You probably think Gibson's are great.
My opinion for what it's worth.:blah:

1) They're far from crap - You've convinced me.
2) Although they use some CNC, there is still a tremendous amount of handcrafting involved. - Hey thats great.
3) Most guitar companies use CNC machines in their processes. - I don't think thats true. Large companies use them, but I don't think they outnumber boutique builders. You know... luthiers.
4) You probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference of CNC machining vs. non CNC crafting. - Presume all you want if it makes you feel better.
5) PRS does make left handed guitars. - From PRS's Shawn Nuthall "Thank you for your interest in Paul Reed Smith Guitars. From 1998 through 2004 PRS offered several of our models in left hand versions, but due to a lack of sales we have discontinued the lefty option altogether."
6) You probably think Gibson's are great. - No... overpriced for CNC made crap, just like....

I agree. Even the SE model for their low-end line is beautifully done, especially at that price.
Of course no guitar is for EVERYONE - some people don't like particular scale lengths, and there's nothing you can do about that - but regardless of whether a PRS floats your boat or not, you certainly can't fault the quality or quality control.

I suppose the reason so many boutique luthiers are spending the big $$$ to move into CNC setups is so their guitars can be soulless, mojoless dentist guitars, right?
Or, maybe it's the precise control, repeatability, and almost unlimited shaping possibilities? PRS aren't for everyone, but dissing them for being made (wholly or in part) through CNC methods just smacks of Ed Roman style gibbering.

PRS uses CNC machines to build their guitars.
Gibson guitars are placed on this earth by god himself. They are then cut down, run through a mill and then put on a CNC machine...

Ha! Nice, MikeStatic!
Only played one PRS and it was at a Guitar Center where a couple of friends of mine work. Played and sounded much better than alot of Gibson guitars in the same price range, not to mention stayed in tune. Not crap at all, IMO.. and opinions are what it all comes down to. Can't say PRS guitars are "better" than Gibson (or vice versa) around some die hards or they will go straight for your jugular.
To top it all off.. ED ROMAN RULES
