to those that don't know, what's cool about this set is that he tunes all the toms to actual notes. You can see he wrote the notes on the heads with permanent marker.

Not too many drums for Terry Bozzio, one of my favorite drummers!
I've seen him in clinic over 30 times... he's like no other for sure. He's a one man orchestra on the USS Bozzio kit! It's really amazing... you have to go check out one of his clinics if you've never seen him before. You won't believe what he can do with 4 limbs.
Although I respect his clinics, I was a huge fan of his playing way back in the Zappa, Missing Persons, UK and Jeff Beck days.
Maybe some of you don't know this, but Terry plays most of the drum tracks on the last KORN Untitled cd... go get that one if you don't have it yet ;)

I don't mean to hijack this thread, and i hope you don't mind me asking, Ray.
But do you have an idea why Terry quit the band so soon after the album release? One might lament on the large responsibilities weighing on a professional musician or band that is as popular as KoRn is, and on howmuch it affects his or her life.
I've seen Terry Bozzio a couple of times in various ensembles/bands. Most of which was, let's say, aimed toward an alternative/experimental/freejazz type of audience. To me it looked like he was truly in his element when he played with musicians who, apart from being incredibly skilled, shared his sense of rhythmic and structural experiment (not unlike Zappa and the mothers).
So i was thinking, surely playing with KoRn must have been something else entirely, on a variety of levels.
Would you say that in addition to musical and social/business skills, it takes an extra ingredient for a musician or band to deal with every day life as a famous rock artist?
Cheers,
Peter

I showed my wife that video, and I had to sleep on the couch, (for one night).
She didnt even talk to me or tell me why... she simply, calmly walked into the bedroom and locked the foor.

From what I've read, he didn't quit the band...he was hired to play on the album but was never a member of the band. He didn't play on all of the songs on the album either.

In looking at the kit you can see it really is not that big!
Yeah I know you're laughing (so am I). But look carefully. That rack of note-tuned 10" drums is a particular segment of the set. The cymbals are also chosen & arranged on a 'tuned' basis. Drop those out, and you have a typical medium-large drumset.
I have 30 tuned items in roughly the same spot on my own set! They are in a much smaller orchestra bell package...
