If you want to see a more detailed article on Experience PRS, and highlights from that show (including the introduction of the Mira), check out
this article (http://www.harmony-central.com/articles/reviews/prs_guitars/), which begins with an interview with Paul, and is followed by a report on the show, and then the 2007 factory tour.

A manufacturer's event gets it's own forum?
Couldn't this just be a sticky somewhere else?

People complained when I stickied last year's event, so I tried this approach.
And when Gibson hosts their own show with free food, concerts, clinics, and access to their artists and facilities, Harmony Central will give them a forum, too.
Seems like a fair trade--forum space for opening up their headquarters and factory for a candid look at their operations.

Haha, we all know Gibson ain't ever never doin' that. So not a whole lot to your equal time offer.

I like these forums because they don't seem to favor any particular manufacturers or vendors. This forum seems to violate that practice.

Equal time offer equates to equal opportunity as soon as they take advantage of it.
Personally, I greatly appreciate the tour. Thank you.

I agree with you. The forum shouldn't show preference. But the key word is preference. We will show any and all editorially worthy events. I'd put up a Gibson event tomorrow, if one happened, and PRS wouldn't have a thing to say about it. (Nor would they dream of presuming otherwise.) BTW, this came about because PRS invited Harmony Central to the event. Why? They recognize HC as an editorial force, an internet information phenomenon. With over 8,000 posts, GuitarNoobie, you are directly responsible for helping PRS to think that way. Thanks for that!
So when Fender or Gibson hosts an event, gives a tour of their custom shop, and invites HC to it, we'll post that too. We will show no preference -- except to those who open their doors to HC, let us take photos and answer our questions honestly. We will show every mfr. who thinks highly enough of HC to invite them. Just for the record, HC -- not PRS -- paid for my travel and expenses to Maryland. PRS didn't chip in a dime. They were gracious hosts (they served lunch), but there was no special treatment, no $ for coverage, and absolutely no quid pro quo.

You can parse all you want this is preferential, delete my post if you want...you deleted my thread.
Sorry if these aren't kind words.

You must not be aware of how many advertising dollars PRS is pumping into HC's new parent company Musician's Friend.
(actually, I'm sure you know what's going on here...but somebody had to say what everyone was thinking, eh?)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, IF a it there's a disclaimer- "Paid Advertisement".

Some people will complain about anything. Guys, here's a hint: If you don't like it, don't click on it. I doubt this will be a permanent forum, so you won't have to deal with it for long.

Any kind of media likes exclusives. PRS is a big name in the industry, we got an exclusive look, we're going to do something with it. Besides, these "topical" forums don't last forever, any more than the NAMM or AES discussion forums last forever...they're of the moment, they're interesting, people look at 'em, we move on. That's why we have the section for Archived forums: The material is still available, but doesn't interrupt the regular flow.
The factory tour thread has well over 3,400 page views, so obviously, a lot of people are digging it. This complements the video factory tours over in the Theater...we have a ton of them, and they get a lot of downloads. If there's one thing we've learned by scrutinzing the site stats, it's that people like trade show, artist, and factory tour videos.
I can also guarantee you that if the factory tour thread here had gotten 100 page views instead of thousands, it would already have been archived :) We go with the flow...we used to have four international forums, but only the Spanish one took off, so we kept that are deleted the rest.
When page views for the factory tour start falling off, this forum will make the short trip to archive-land. Fair enough?

Fair enough, do you think a factory tour of the other manufacturers would generate as many views? Why not a Gibson factory, Martin factory, Hamer factory....?

Probably...although as I mentioned, we do have factory tour videos in the Theater, and they draw a lot of people so we know this is something of interest to the community. In particular, the Martin ones have been extremely popular.
I think the ideal situation would be to have a "Factory Tour of the Month" forum to replace this one, and it would rotate through a differenent manufacturer every month. But there are two problems with that idea: 1) Not all manufacturers put on events like the one PRS did, so I don't know if we could find 12 to do it, and 2) Jon's family would probably leave him if he took off every month for several days!
