Please take a look at this ad

Seems too cheap for such an instrument. I can't find a used PRS for under $1700 . . . . $450 seems to good to be true. Any thoughts?

That's a SE Singlecut. $450's about right....as far as the 24k strings....better call Ripley's.

Oh its the SE? I guess it looks nicer than the SE series . . . . they go for about $600 new right?

Singelcuts list for around $600. You can usually find them new around $500.

I wonder why they flagged the add?

Call Ripley's eh?

So I better call them about the strings on my basses.

Several companies make 24K Gold strings, the ones I use are made by Optima (previously known as Maxima). Optima guitar strings are endorsed by Brian May. :rawk:

I used to use the Maxima strings quite a bit.

There were advantages and disadvantages:

Disadvantages:
-Expensive - like paying for three sets of regular strings at the time I was getting them.
-They felt one gauge heavier than they actually were due to the gold coating.
-After a while (a long while) the coating started wearing off.

Advantages:
-Extremely long lasting.
-Looked nice on darker finished guitars.
-Sounded pretty good as strings go.

Yeah they are a bit more expensive than regular strings but they sound better. I think they're made better nowadays. The coating doesn't wear off for me but it does tarnish a bit after several months (3 or 4). At that stage it's probably best to change anyways. ;)

I think they look great with dark finishes and Gold hardware combined.
