Sounds good! :thu:
I don't think I could do a completely raw clip like that. It would sound like crap.
I need a little delay on my vocals.. and at least a guitar. :D

leslie, as always, i love your singing.
dcooper, that was really good. :thu: i especially like the sammy hagar song, since it showed off some of your range for rock.
joeytpg, very nice. i like the lighter quality in your upper range. very lyrical. :thu:
i don't know what sevenstring thinks, but i will say that in my opinion what you both posted followed the spirit of the challenge, if not the letter. i could hear what both of you sound like, and it sounds very good. :thu:

Hey, WZ, you might like this one, considering some of the material you seem to dig.

Alright, I'll bite!
I did this one a while back when the wife and kid were gone.
Audio's pretty hideous, as I was just using the web cam mic.

Sorry, but that is the exact opposite of what I was talking about for this thread, and I even explicitely called out this problem within the first few seconds of the video I embedded in the original post.
The singer in your video is being completely drowned out by the Red Hot Chili Peppers backing track, so I can't hear a damn thing in terms of what she sounds like.
I can certainly hear what Anthony Kiedis sounds like, but that is something I already know.

I thought it was pretty good. You've got a nice voice. Sort of a country style to how you did the song.

use the youtube tags, but do not place the entire web address between them, just the unique video identifier.
for instance, if the url is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0
place "oHg5SJYRHA0" portion between the youtube tags.

I like what you've done here, good lyrics and good melody as well.
I think you could benefit from voice lessons, some of the time I hear and see a lot of tension in your neck, almost like you're going to choke yourself out, lessons might help you understand how to shift the focus of your sound away from the tight neck.
I get some of that tense neck look on some of my notes, a lot of singers do, sometimes it's a problem that needs urgent attention and sometimes not....., I can't say in your case and I'm no expert either, just what I see.
In spite of my concerns with your vocal approach , I like your tone, it is good you are dead on with the notes, that's pretty rare, and a big plus.
If you did nothing but continued on with what you're doing and didn't hurt your voice in the process, I see good things happening with your continued collaboration with the lyricist, you match up well with what was written.
Don't worry about the mistakes, they're kind of meaningless, practice and stay with it.
By the way , read amygould's post # 3 on this same page.....
http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2119154
The tip is dead on and could be a possible aid to you, it's about getting the focus away from injurious and tone sucking throat focusing.
Hope this helps a little, stay with it and best of luck..........

Not a vid, but a quick, rough live clip from my bedroom practice space the other night:
http://www.soundclick.com/util/getplayer.m3u?id=6997416&q=hi
I've got big issues with a nasally, pinched voice. I try to open up my pallette to avoid the midrange nasal quality, but it's hard when I'm playing and singing at the same time. It's a lot to concentrate on at once.

This is SO shit! Stop posting it. Fuck
:cop: This response is SO shit, it seems to me. Not good, man, not good. And to think I just gave you a compliment on another thread!
Damon, keep up the good work. I understand how difficult it is to get the singing synced with the strumming, and you're doing quite well for someone with two weeks of experience!

I think you sound cool. I really like the way you say door. Very nice. You should be very proud if you really have only been playing for such a little while. Very impressive. You have a nice voice for country by the way. Nice and clear, and of course your accent will help for country ballads. I have a feeling that you already know this. Good job man.
