What does NAMM stand for? What I mean is, does each individual letter in NAMM mean a word?

It's short for Vietnam. Vietnam is actually where all the big guitar expos go down. The biggest, though, are in Korea. The only real domestic guitar shows we have would be in the Gulf, but the past few years they've all been going on out east.

From their website (http://www.namm.org/frequently-asked-questions#1)
Q: What does the acronym NAMM stand for?
A: Over its more-than-one-hundred-year history, the association has evolved from a national entity representing the interests of music products retailers to an international association including both commercial and retail members. The International Music Products Association’s name, NAMM, comes from the acronym “National Association of Music Merchants,” but the long form of the name is no longer used. Today, we simply say that NAMM stands for the interests of the global music products industry.

Very well said NAMM stands for “National Association of Music Merchants". It's mission is to unify, lead, and strengthen the international music product industry..

It stands for "International Music Products Association"
isn't it obvious?
okay, the old name was "National Association of Music Merchants", and they kept the old acronym because NAMM sounds better then IMPA

John McCain spent some time in NAMM. He endured five long years of being locked up in a booth listening to pushy salespeople.

(In Grampa Simpson voice) IMPA!!! IMPA!!! IMMMMPPPPPAAAAA!!!!!!
The name change had largely to do with the industry becoming a global, rather than American entity. But they should have re-named it International Association of Music Merchants (iNAMM or IAMM)
