Is it ok if I ask why he's in there (or if it's just a joke - really, I think I'm the only one who doesn't know), or should I delete this?

Sadly, it is true. Nerve is spending a month in one of our local correctional facilities. Resulting from a DUI arrest, I believe. He gets out to go to work, but is savagely ripped from society again at day's end.

Nerve made the mistake of composing a complete series of soliloquies pointing out the idiosyncratic nature of the governing bodies. Through an odd series of events made to appear orderly, he's been..... framed. You'll hear all sorts of things that appear on the surface to make sense, but unless and until you hear it from Nerve, I caution you to understand that anything else is likely spoken from the mouthpiece of...the man.

If you could relax on the comments about my recent rotund figure, that'd be great. ;) I've stolen a lot from you this year, Fred5, thanks! ;)

Ok...hmmm I hope no one takes this the wrong way or anything....but uh...at the risk of getting flamed to death and being hated for the rest of my forum tenure (which, depending on the outcome of this post, might not be very long)....I just wanted to ask you guys something.
No offense or anything, but isn't Nerve doing time for his own mistake? Therefore are we justified in blaming this one on The Man?
Just my two cents.

Sure I am! But does the Man ever accept that anything was his mistake? No way! Besides, life's no fun without a scapegoat. Get it? ScapeGOAT! Mwuhahahaha!!!!! ;)

Doc Wilson scarred my poor, young, impressionable mind for life with his descriptions of what he was gonna do to that poor animal.
Oh the horror!! Call the animal rights activists.....OH THE HORROR!!:(

I think everybody is kidding about "the man" here SSSS, Nerve knows he did wrong and is accepting his punishment with his usual good humor.
It's a pain in the ass, but it's SUPPOSED to be. Hopefully drinking and driving are a thing of the past for him.
Nerve, here's hoping the New Year is a great one for you.

Thanks, DB! Last year was the best and worst of years. The good vibes at Moestock counter balanced everything else. That ol' hellhound couldn't get through the door at Manny's! :D

You're a good man Nerve. I'm glad we've got a new calendar to work with too. My closest friend died on Christmas day and even though we knew it was coming it's been a tough one.
My high for the year is questionable, but the low is unmistakable. Hopefully in '03 it will be the other way around.
Hang in there, may the food be the worst thing about "camp", and may it become a faint memory quickly.

The food is the worst part. You know things are bad when you go hitting the vending machines.

Now THAT'S good for your medical situation. Can't you "pack" a dinner? It seems like almost anything would be better than "pull the handle" food.

No, but during the week I only eat dinner there. The food here at Seagate is actually pretty decent, lots of access to salads, vegetables, etc.
