Acoustic = No distortion, no effects (except a lil' reverb). Did I get that right? Or does it also means only acoustic instruments?

I could do something with the cuatro...

You want us to solo over the whole minute?

The cuatro is Puerto Rico's national musical instrument. It has a very short scale (I think is around 18.5"), and has five pairs of strings somewhat like a 12-string guitar, and is tuned (high to low) G-D-A-E-B. The last two or three pairs are in octaves. It has a very melodic, chimey sound.

I'm gonna record somethin' over you CJ. :D

Okay, here's my submission playing the cuatro:

This link will take ya to the mp3... (http://solseptimo.tripod.com/acousticjam.html)

I hope it's good...I recorded it simply with a cheap Nady mic pointing near the soundhole, listening to the framework through headphones.

Hope ya like it...please give me your feedback about it!

Yipee! Thanks! :D

Glad you like it...You know, that fast-picking technique (it's called tremolar in Spanish) is basic to the cuatro's technique...

So that means I'm in!

Here is a song I doubletaked, improvised on the Wechter about a year and half ago. Sorry for the slop in the second half. The Wechter is a double cutaway nylon by the way.

I whipped up a scrungy sloppy solo. I uploaded the parts to cyberjammin'. The last lick was punched....

The solo mp3 includes the intro silence of the framework so it should sync right up.

Let me knwo if I should redo it.

Scott

PS: Happy New Year!

I can indeed mate, I deleted it from me server cos i'm quite close to my storage limit. It's just a bit of shameless, self indulgent wanking really :p I made it to try some new sampled drum sounds, which are bloody marvelous :) I bought them the next day :D I'll stick it back up there for ya, same link...........

Ian,

that really wasn't bad at all, even through my tacky sound card . BTW, how much did the drum samples cost you if you don't mind me asking ?

Now you can get back to matters accoustic ;)

Glad you guys liked it. I think I should have stayed bluesier in it. Maybe I should redo it. I had not recorded with the Wechter in over a year, it was kind of alien!

The cd is about £70  but all the sounds are mapped for midi in multiple formats so it's worth it I think. I may well land up using them for our album as, if i can get em sounding as realistic as the demos (which are also mapped in midi to deconstruct :) ) they should sound vastly superior to anything I could record with my cheap gear in my unproffesionally treated studio :p

Scott, It sounds great to me I like a bit o' jazz :)
