My wife used it out in the rain. Don't know exactly how much rain it got on it but probably not that much. But enough to make it want to eject every mini-dv we insert. According to the manual it's probably due to moisture on the inside.
Is it ruined? Or it this fixable?

leave it next to a radiator for a few days, or weeks, then try it again.
or put it in a microwave, if it doesnt dry it out you'll have a miniature firework show to make up for it

Put a candle into a microwave once to see if it would melt the wax...CRACK!!! The candle lit and smoke poured out. I still have this appliance, it worked another 7 years, might still but now in storage.

Leave the camera out of any case in a dry area for a few days. Maybe open any hatches.

Is it still alive? :)
I wouldn't recommend turning it on to see until you are sure it is 100% dry. This could cause a short and make the damage even worse. I have dropped countless cellphones and cameras in the toilet (don't ask why the camera was out in the restroom...). The best thing to do is pop out the battery ASAP to prevent it from shorting itself out. Dry off as much water as possible on the outside and shake out as much as you can through any holes in the frame. This next thing may not apply to you but its useful info...If you have files in built in memory, say...cell phone numbers in your phone that you don't want to lose, put your cellphone and battery (seperated) into the freezer. No joke. Leave it in there overnight or a few hours. This will freeze the water and you can put your battery back in and have 5-10 minutes where the phone(or whatever device) will work fine without shorting. Don't push your timing because if the device heats up and the ice starts the melt it can once again be in danger of shorting. Anyways, your memory is probably a seperate piece so this probably doesn't apply for your situation. Leaving it out in a sunlit room or in a window sill (maybe not best idea if it gets too hot) will evaporate any water left inside overtime. I usually leave the side with the most/biggest openings towards to top so the liquid can escape. Take your time because if you turn on your device too soon it can cause further damage. I Accidentally left my electric/dry razor on the shower sill and it got completely drenched. This fixed it all up. Because rain water may have contaminants in it there might be some of this residue left inside the camera after evaporation and this might cause oxidation and/or rust overtime. Use your best judgement to see how it works after its completely dry. Like I mentioned multiple times already, don't get antsy and tempted to turn it on too early when drying it out. Give it time.
