This one fucks up all the time and I'm getting fed up of constant crashes and all sorts of other shit.

So I need a new one, but I want one that's decent for gaming and can handle newer games - take Gears Of War as an example, since I have that and can't play it on my current laptop :o

I also need to not spend a fortune because I'm not very well-off in the monies department :poke:

Any suggestions???

Budget might not be a problem if I can get it on some sort of finance plan and pay monthly at 142384% interest :freak:

My current heap is an Acer Aspire 5050. It's not brilliant but at €750 it's far more reliable than the Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo rubbish that cost €2,500 and died after three years. The customer support with Fujitsu was a joke - the retailer went out of business not long after we bought the thing as well. That said, the retailer where I bought this has also closed as has the retailer where I bought my first computer. Maybe it's me...

Not sure on Gears of War, but my Sony Vaio VGN-NR498E/W handles Oblivion fine on medium settings.

To be honest, gaming on a laptop isn't exactly that great. Sure, it's cool, but the point of a laptop is portability.

I'd go with either a Macbook (and bootcamp with Windows Vista!) or a Sony Vaio. Those are really the only two brands I'd even consider if I were in the market for a notebook again.

I don't like Dells, Toshibas, or HP's at all. Same for Gateway - they're known for being POS laptops with reliability issues.

Is abaci or abacuses the correct plural of abacus? Either way they are durable and fun.

Here's another vote for a macbook. I had a dell for a few years and liked it pretty well but now it's unusable due to the amount of spyware/viruses (even after a few reformats.) I just got a macbook a few weeks ago and really like it.

I never felt notebooks were good for long after for smashing and banging away at them, as they seem to tend to disintegrate after a few years. If I were you, I would build my own PC for gaming at a fraction of the cost of a notebook.

The problem with electronics is thats go old very easily. Today you buy the most latest gizmo or laptop and after 15 days that become old technology. But thanks god I learnt the lesson and now I am not running after technology any more.

For the game I think Apple is the best option ...

If you're willing to spend close to, but not over 1,500 USD, then I suggest looking into a Toshiba Satellite® X205-S9800. As far as gaming laptops, it's reasonably-priced, comes w/ extra USB ports, a 1.83 Core 2 Duo, a 250GB HD, and 2 gigs of RAM.

Well you should consider fast and latest processor and RAM capability if you want to have game laptop. As these two are the essential component to get the full enjoyment of game.

I think Intel and AMD both have made these kind of processor. You just have to search a bit.

Well I personally do not think that Game on laptop is a good idea. Instead of that you should buy desktop or may be sony playstation.

Believe me you will get the real pleasure of game ...

Are you having software or hardware crashes?
How old is the computer?
Is the cooling fan running?
Have you tried formatting the HD and reloading everything from scratch to see if that takes care of the problems?
Why can't you run GoW? Not enough RAM? Not enough HDD space?
