is there a way to sell songs where someone comes and plugs their ipod to your laptop and you can upload your music at gigs?
i don't know if there's a limit to how many ipods can be plugged into one computer.

no...iPods are proprietary to ONE music library; the one that the owner plugs it into. so, in other words: one iPod per computer and one computer per iPod.

No, but you could get some cheap 256meg flash drives and load it on there.

I thought about this one myself too. What if you don't have a CD ? Well I like the idea of having download cards, where you can actually sell downloads on a card, your fans can then go home after the gig and download by redeeming the download card. Looking at the two services I found it'll cost the artist from $40 to $90 for 100 of these cards.
Dropcards (http://www.dropcards.com/products.php) and DiscRevolt (http://www.discrevolt.com/) are the two services I've found so far. Sounds like a great area for Tunecore to get into maybe too?

People aren't going to bring ipods to shows to download the music from you...not to mention, you can't take songs from your ipod and download them to your computer without getting sketchy, non-apple software. It would also be time consuming and complicated.

it was just a thought, trying to think "outside the box", you know.
i was also trying to put myself in their shoes... i always carry my iPod everywhere, including shows, so i don't know, maybe that's something i would probably do. don't have to buy a CD, go home, rip it, then get all the tags, artwork, etc... i can just get the band's music straight into my iPod.
but i can see all the haggle it would take to get that done.

Just so you all know, all you have to do to upload songs from a computer to an iPod that isn't designated to that computer is turn off automatic syncing. Then you just take the songs from whatever playlist/album and drop them on the iPod graphic on the left side of iTunes. That said, I'm going to have to say that even though I'm a kid who carries his iPod EVERYWHERE, I would either pay for the CD at the show or not worry about it. Waiting for a guy to turn on his computer, open iTunes, hook up my iPod, upload the songs, take it home, d/l software to upload it from the iPod to my computer, THEN finally listening to it on a good stereo is just too much work. Now, with THAT said, I do have some really great software that I can do that with from time to time, but it mostly comes in handy when friends are over so I can just get music off their iPods. Basically, what this comes down to is sell CDs or direct them to your iTunes Artist page. I very much respect the idea though, trying to get directly to a fans main source of media!

Not really possible. You should mention that you do have your songs on itunes though.
