Am I correct in assuming that MySpace generally uses the free music its users generate and makes ad money off of it -- that's how it works, right?

Well, then, a few questions.

Is there any way to create my own band website and collect ad revenue off of it?

Bring people to your website (through any means necessary) and you will earn money from each time one of them clicks one of these ads on your site.

There are some specific-topic websites that generate enough traffic to make a lot of money from clickthroughs (H-C), but I haven't heard of any band-specific sites that do.

Yes, you can. No, it's not. To stream songs on your site, you software on your server that allows them to listen without is being downloaded to their browser cache.

Hey, you can't just make a flash player stream your songs. It doesn't work that way. First you need the software on your server to create an open streaming connection. Then you make the flash player so end users can listen.
