Ok so.. I am wondering some things about Band logos and the such. Let's say I want to get every band logo and/or band T-shirt ever made and be able to re-print my own shirts. Or if I wanted to take a band logo, take it to a printing place to make a remake of a shirt and get a couple to sell. What would I have to do in order to get approval in being able to sell my own band shirts. Also, how would I go about designing my own band shirts and selling them? I'm just really unsure and not clear about how this would be done. Just need some answers in selling T-shirts and such things with band logos and names on them. And if there are any guidelines or do's or don'ts with doing this.. Any information about this could greatly help me out. Thanks to whoever can give me some info! :thu:

If it is your own band logo, there is nothing to worry about. You can print it all you want.
If it is another band's logo, then you could probably print one for yourself no worries, and printing places might even do it for you, but you probably need legal permission to use the logo if you are going to sell it in any quantity whatsoever.
If you are interested in learning to print yourself, go to your local art supply store and buy a silk screening kit, and it will give you all the instructions and materials you need to get started.

Booya Tribe has it right. A logo is someone's property. If you want to use it in any kind of commercial capacity, you have to get permission from the owner. You'll have to find the entity who controls the rights to that logo and talk to them. There's no one way to find them, the label doesn't always own it. Most of the time the band itself owns it. Popular bands probably work with a merchandising company.
Thanks!
